We are looking for a Senior Manager, Engineering & Technology Finance to join our team in one of today’s most exciting technologies. This role will report to our Senior Director, Services Finance and based in San Jose, CA. This is a fully on-site, in office role 5 days a week.
Role Summary
The Senior Manager, Engineering & Technology Finance serves as a strategic partner to the CTO and Engineering leadership, enabling disciplined investment, financial transparency, and data-driven decision-making that bridges technical priorities with long-term corporate financial performance.
Location
This position is based in San Jose, CA. Travel is expected to be approximately 10%.
Primary Responsibilities
Serve as a strategic partner to Engineering and Finance leadership within a high-growth, innovation-driven organization.
Support product roadmap and technical decision-making, evaluating trade-offs across cost, timeline, and resource allocation.
Provide clear financial framing for complex engineering and technology decisions, enabling informed prioritization.
Own annual budget, quarterly forecast, and long-range plan (LRP) for Engineering and Technology.
Build and maintain driver-based financial models linking headcount, development cycles, and output to business outcomes.
Ensure transparency into spend, pacing, and resource utilization, enabling proactive management of engineering investments.
Support capital allocation decisions across competing engineering initiatives, optimizing returns and resource deployment.
Develop ROI frameworks for new product development and technology investments, incorporating risk and uncertainty.
Quantify the financial impact of engineering decisions on margin, cost structure, and scalability.
Partner with Manufacturing and Supply Chain Finance on product cost, cost-down initiatives, and design-to-cost programs.
Ensure alignment between engineering investments and company-wide financial targets and performance objectives.
Maintain strong financial controls and compliance, including adherence to accounting policies, capitalization guidelines, and internal governance standards.
Drive improvements in financial systems, data quality, and reporting accuracy to enhance decision-making.
Implement tools and process enhancements to reduce manual effort and increase analytical depth.
Build scalable financial infrastructure to support rapid growth in engineering investment and organizational complexity.
Qualifications
8+ years of progressive finance experience, with increasing scope and responsibility.
Experience supporting Engineering, R&D, or Technology organizations in a financial capacity.
Strong financial modeling and analytical skills, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
Experience in manufacturing or capital-intensive industries preferred.
Proficiency with ERP and business intelligence tools (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Power BI, Tableau).
