We are looking for a Staff Electrical Engineer - Microgrid Systems, to join our team in one of today’s most exciting technologies. This role will report to Director, Electrical Engineering and based in San Jose, CA

Location: This role will be based in San Jose, CA. It is fully on-site, in office role.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • System and Product testing interfacing Fuel Cell generation to various end applications including grid parallel export and large scale microgrid support.
  • Design validation and acceptance testing, including full power testing of systems larger than 1MW.
  • Compliance testing and certification against various Grid Interconnection standards such as IEEE 1547, UL 1751, and other international standards.
  • Troubleshoot, define, and initiate corrective actions for field failures and production issues.

Skills, Education, and Experience:

  • B.S./M.S./Ph.D. in electrical engineering or a related field
  • Strong fundamentals in EE knowledge.
  • 3+ years relevant work experience with B.S./M.S. 1+ years relevant work experience with Ph.D.
  • Strong knowledge of the behavior and use in power electronic devices (such as inverters and DCDC converters) in high power (>100kW) interfacing applications.
  • Strong understanding of Utility Interconnection requirements and standards such as IEEE 1547 and performance of their associated tests.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical system-level design fundamentals.
  • Strong knowledge of Power System concepts (breaker selection and coordination, transformer sizing and knowledge, switchgear concepts, relaying).
  • Strong knowledge of the NEC and its application to product design.
  • Experience working in a high power lab environment with electrical tools (such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, power quality analyzers, etc.) is required.
  • Experience with product development design validation testing is required.
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong technical communication and collaboration.

Nice to have:

  • Familiarity with analytical tools and automation (MATLAB, Python programming, etc.)
  • Knowledge of simulation tools (ETAP, PSCAD, etc.)

Salary Ranges:

$130,400.00 - $187,600.00
