• Operational Excellence: Oversee daily operations, ensuring alignment between academic research, centralized University Shared Services, and diverse Faculty departments.
• Team Management: Supervise and mentor a small administrative team, fostering a culture of collaboration and advancing Access, Community and Belonging (ACB) initiatives.
2. Financial Stewardship & Business Development
• Strategic Funding: Lead business development to secure large-scale programmatic funding (e.g., MITACS, government grants, and private endowments).
• Budget Oversight: Manage operating budgets and ensure compliance with institutional policies and Research Administrative Services (RAS) requirements.
• Risk Mitigation: Provide high-level financial oversight to ensure the long-term fiscal health and integrity of the Centre’s various funding envelopes.
3. Workforce Development & Programming

• Needs Assessment: Identify sector-wide skill gaps and secure the external grants or partnerships necessary to fund capacity-building mandates.
• Impact Reporting: Evaluate program performance and prepare reports demonstrating the results of workforce initiatives.
4. Industry Liaison & Tech Commercialization
• Partnership Brokering: Interface with industry leaders to de-risk technology adoption and coordinate high-level corporate outreach.
• Commercialization Support: Collaborate with the VP-International and Enterprise (VP-IE) and technology incubators to streamline IP pathways.
• Technical Assessment: Apply knowledge of Technology Readiness Levels (TRL) to align research outputs with market needs and investment timelines.
5. Stakeholder Engagement & Policy Influence
• Strategic Networking: Build and sustain relationships with government policy advisors, industrial collaborators, and Indigenous partners.
• Policy Advocacy: Translate complex research into evidence-based recommendations to influence provincial and federal hydrogen strategies.
• Public Outreach: Oversee education campaigns addressing public perception, safety, and the environmental benefits of hydrogen technology.

• Funding Ecosystem: Familiarity with the hydrogen R&D funding landscape, including large-scale institutional envelopes (e.g., MITACS).
• Institutional Operations: Knowledge of university administrative procedures, financial management, and multi-source operational funding.
Core Skills & Abilities
• Strategic Leadership: Proven ability to manage a small team and lead interdisciplinary initiatives within a complex, matrixed organization.
• Business Development: A track record of identifying and securing strategic funding, endowments, or corporate partnerships.
• High-Level Communication: Exceptional ability to translate complex technical/policy concepts for diverse audiences, from government officials to Indigenous partners.
•
