We are looking for a Principal Electrical Engineer, NPI to join our team in one of today’s most exciting technologies. This role will report to Director, NPI, Engineering, and based in Fremont, CA. This is a fully on-site, in office role 5 days a week.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for leading the transition of electrical components, PCBAs, and electrical systems from the design phase to high-volume manufacturing (HVM).
  • Manage new NPI Project transfers to Bloom Manufacturing and CM’s.
  • Drive the end-to-end NPI process from prototype builds (pilot) to mass production (HVM).
  • Act as the primary technical contact between R&D/design teams and contract manufacturers for electrical sub-assemblies.
  • Provide Design for Manufacturability (DfM) and Design for Test (DfT) feedback for PCBAs, wiring harnesses, motors, and battery systems
  • Develop, manage and update process PFMEAs for new or modified processes and equipment.
  • Ensure supplier readiness, including capacity, tooling, and BOM (Bill of Materials) management
  • Ability to lead Electrical NPI team.
  • Identify potential design or supply chain dependencies, manage risks, and create contingency plans to protect project timelines
  • Lead failure analysis, process validation (MVP, IQ/OQ/PQ), and root cause analysis of failures during the NPI phase.
  • Develop work instructions and document new products/tests, product design improvements, and process improvements.
  • Develop, maintain, and track project schedules, milestones, and deliverables.
  • Generate and release part/assembly drawings and Bill of Materials into PLM system.
  • Train manufacturing personnel on assembly, test processes, and test equipment.
  • This position will be based in Fremont, CA and will involve 20%-25% traveling and reporting to Director of Engineering NPI.

Skills and Experience:

  • 10+ years’ experience in Electrical Engineering or New Product Introduction. The candidate will have worked in oil and gas, energy and power, pharmaceutical production, chemical processing, large capital equipment, or related industry. Knowledge of fuel cell systems is a plus but is not required
  • Experience in High Voltage equipment Testing and validation.
  • Ability to independently manage projects.
  • Experience in rapid scale up of a new products and or operations
  • Ability to understand, troubleshoot and resolve issues with a hands-on approach
  • Excellent hands-on bench/lab skills working with Electrical components.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently in a fast paced start up environment
  • BS or MS in Electrical Engineering.
  • Knowledge and Work experience with Switch Gear, Fuel Cells process is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Electrical Assemblies is a plus.

Salary Ranges:

$176,300.00 - $253,700.00
