Rethink What’s Possible in Nuclear Design
We’re building a team of trailblazers in nuclear design engineering - people who don’t just follow the process but challenge and improve it. If you’re an experienced Electrical Engineer ready to shape the next generation of nuclear design projects, this is your opportunity to lead and innovate where it matters most.
In this role, you’ll prepare, review, and/or verify design packages for modifications and new design in Canadian nuclear power plants. We want you to rethink the usual way of doing things and help the team grow and improve internally. You’ll also solve problems for our clients with innovations that lead to greater efficiency in their current processes, providing them with value-added support that stands out from our competitors.
This isn’t about doing things the way they’ve always been done. It’s about applying your deep technical knowledge, your mentoring spirit, and your innovative mindset to help us, and our clients, work smarter and build better.
Salary Range: $130-165k (Exact compensation may vary).
Here’s How You’ll Make an Impact
- Perform role of senior design engineer on various engineering assignments which require a deep knowledge of electrical engineering discipline as well as familiarity with the broader field of engineering and knowledge of the interfaces with and impacts of your work on other disciplines and fields.
- Lead and support technical teams in solving problems related to the electrical design of modifications to existing and/or new systems and components.
- Assist in the development or procurement and implementation of modern electrical design engineering tools and processes.
- Mentor and develop junior design team members.
- Emphasize continuous improvement and focus on bringing innovation, efficiency, and high quality to all engineering tasks and deliverables.
- Prepare electrical design change papers, specifications, requirements, plans, and other technical deliverables for nuclear projects from conceptual through preliminary and detailed design phases in accordance with contractual commitments, applicable processes, and relevant quality assurance (QA) requirements.
- Perform calculations and analysis required to prepare design deliverables referring to applicable requirements, codes, and standards.
- Perform technical reviews and verification of engineering deliverables prepared by others.
- Lead and participate in design reviews with customers, vendors, and internal design groups.
- Collaborate with other disciplines to define and achieve overall required system design functionality, performance, usability, reliability, availability, and maintainability.
- Lead project teams, interfacing with internal and client project management and design teams to identify technical and project risks, and ensure projects are delivered to time and budget, with high quality.
- Become proficient in and use the respective client’s enterprise document management system and configuration/change control processes and tools to complete submission of design deliverables.
- Become proficient in and use NPX’s processes, tools and templates to produce design deliverables compliant with our QA program.
- Participate actively in and provide meaningful feedback on opportunities for improvement, lessons-learned and QA program non-compliances.
