Lead Product Engineer, Hydrogen Storage

Lead Product Engineer - Hydrogen Storage will be responsible for leading hydrogen storage industrialization, regulatory and standards activities, guide future hydrogen application activities, and other work. The candidate must be technically strong, have in depth application knowledge of hydrogen storage systems, balance of plant (BoP) components and possess experience integrating these systems into real-world applications. Candidate must be a team player with interdisciplinary experience/expertise, and willing to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:
Ensure compliance with all legislative requirements in the facility’s geographic location and:

  • Lead product development of conformable hydrogen pressure vessels
  • Ensure conformable tanks meet applicable regulatory standards / requirements 
  • Coordinate activities, assign tasks, publish meeting notes, document all findings and decisions
  • Create IP strategy and portfolio recommendations based on current and future scope of work
  • Establish and apply best practices from design to product launch, including supporting validation and regulatory testing
  • Conduct benchmark study of the competitor products and/or materials
  • Research industry and university advancements in composites
  • Support engineering team (Livonia) and manufacturing team (Guelph) when required, travel on-site if necessary
  • Conduct root cause analysis in coordination with Engineering/Manufacturing teams and identify fix(es) to resolve any issues
  • Providing subject matter expertise, mentoring, and help technical decisions

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree, PhD preferred in Electrical, Mechanical or equivalent Engineering Degree
  • Experience in Pressure Vessel design, testing, homologation activities, hydrogen preferred.
  • Minimum 8+ years' experience in hydrogen storage or balance of plant (BoP) systems
  • Strong Knowledge of composites, i.e. carbon fiber manufacturing, preferred
  • Knowledge of composite design and manufacturing best practices, preferred
  • Willing to travel 10-15% based on business needs
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and technical problem-solving ability
  • Experience leading a project with cross functional team members
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be a self-directed and motivated individual who is willing to accept responsibility.
  • Knowledge and experience with quality control methodologies 
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills to work with people at all levels within and outside Linamar in a professional manner.
