Job Description: Field Service Technician
Bloom Energy, a solid oxide fuel cell company, is looking for a Field Service Technician to join its world- class team. We're looking for a dynamic professional seeking a rewarding future in one of today’s most exciting technologies.
Location: Remote Field Office - Cumberland County, NJ (Remote employee)
Role and Responsibilities:
- Provide fuel cell service during shift at primary site.
- Operate a service vehicle safely
- Create daily workflows for oneself from a list of scheduled tasks (regularly assigned to work autonomously)
- Manage on-site preventative maintenance, repair, test, and diagnostic tasks
- Follow company procedures and protocols
- Diagnose errors or technical problems and determine/implement proper solutions
- Cooperate with a technical team and share information across the organization
- Comprehend and follow customer access requirements
- Maintain service vehicle and spare part inventory
- Maintain/build positive relationships with customers
- Produce timely and detailed service reports as required
- Complete daily administrative duties such as closing service appointments and debriefing parts.
- Other responsibilities as assigned
- Must be willing to travel up to 40% to support the company's needs for additional projects.
- Open to working a Tuesday-Saturday or Sunday-Thursday schedule.
- Once qualified, provide on-call rotation for possible on-site support.
Education and Experience:
The following MINIMUM levels of experience and or education are required:
- High school diploma & 6 years’ experience in electrical, process controls, or electro-mechanical fields;
- Or –
- Technical diploma, Journeymen Certification, Electrician Certification in a technical field, and relevant industry experience of 4 years (electrician, electronics technician, field service, technician, test engineer, etc.)
- Or –
- 5 years or more relevant experience in commercial electrical, combined with electrical-related military experience (eg. Navy Nuclear Electronics/Electrical Technician, or other technical position, military certified electrician or technician, Gas Turbine Electrician)
Skills and Experience:
- Strong electrical troubleshooting/diagnostic skills required.
- Familiar with safety standards, especially those related to electrical work (OSHA & NFPA 70E).
- Prior experience as an electrician or electrical technician working with any of the following technologies: three-phase systems, uninterruptible power supplies, electrical generation and distribution systems, power electronics, automatic transfer switches, and microprocessor-based control platforms.
- Experience with various electrical/electronic test and measurement equipment.
- Able to read and interpret electrical single-line diagrams and blueprints.
- Experience with performing equipment maintenance in accordance with ANSI/NETA standards for Electrical Power.
- Mechanical system aptitude, to include troubleshooting/repair skills.
- Highly motivated and able to work autonomously.
- Demonstrates sound judgment in the resolution of complex problems.
- Team player who exhibits a high level of integrity and professionalism.
- Communicates written and verbal English effectively.
- Comfortable with working from elevated heights up to 20ft in the air.
- Able to execute against written and verbal procedures and sequenced work instructions.
- Able to regularly handle equipment up to 50lbs., occasionally may lift up to 70 lbs.
- Able to reach, squat, bend, and twist during the workday.
- Able to use a ladder or stepstool regularly.
- Able to facilitate 24X7 on-call duty.
- Able to facilitate shift work as needed.
- Able to regularly support overtime to achieve quarterly goals.
- Able to travel up to 40%.
- Nice to have if prior experience with electromechanical components.
Salary Ranges:
$28.02 - $40.32
