We manufacture our wood pellets using sustainable practices while maintaining and improving the health of our forests and reducing greenhouse gas emissions on a lifecycle basis around the world. Our wood pellets are exported through our deep-water marine terminals to customers in the United Kingdom, the European Union, Japan, and beyond, helping to accelerate the energy transition and de-fossilize hard-to-abate sectors like steel, cement, lime, chemicals, and aviation fuels.

We are seeking a strategic and results-driven Vice President, Procurement to lead and optimize our procurement function. This executive leader will be responsible for designing and overseeing a scalable, controlled, and efficient Procure-to-Pay (P2P) process that supports operational excellence, financial stewardship, and compliance. The ideal candidate will possess a strong blend of operational expertise, procurement systems knowledge, and relationship-building skills to drive continuous improvement across the procurement lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive procurement strategy aligned with organizational goals, driving cost efficiencies, risk mitigation, and value creation.
  • Establish and maintain a robust and controlled P2P process, ensuring compliance, accuracy, and seamless integration between procurement, finance, and operations.
  • Lead the design and optimization of procurement policies, procedures, and systems, with a focus on standardization, automation, and scalability.
  • Foster cross-functional collaboration with key departments including Finance, Legal, IT, and Operations to ensure cohesive execution and accountability.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, suppliers, and vendors to support long-term business objectives and mutual value.
  • Negotiate strategic agreements and contracts that support pricing, quality, delivery, and service level goals.
  • Monitor and report on key procurement metrics, including spend analysis, savings performance, supplier performance, and policy compliance.
  • Oversee vendor risk management and ensure business continuity through effective sourcing strategies and contingency planning.
  • Champion a culture of integrity, transparency, and continuous improvement within the procurement team and across the organization.

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, Finance, or related field; MBA or related advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10+ years of progressive experience in procurement leadership roles, with a strong track record of designing and managing controlled P2P processes.
  • Demonstrated success in leading strategic sourcing, vendor management, and contract negotiations.
  • Proven ability to build trusted relationships across all levels of an organization and with external partners.
  • Strong understanding of procurement systems (e.g., Coupa, SAP Ariba, Oracle, etc.) and process automation tools.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Qualifications - What Will Set You Apart

  • Experience in a fast-paced, multi-location or global organization.
  • Change management experience in procurement transformations or ERP/P2P system implementations.
  • Ability to balance strategic vision with hands-on execution.

Travel requirements

  • Travel required as business needs dictate.  

Working Conditions

  • Willing and able to maintain strict adherence to safety rules and regulations, to include wearing safety equipment.

Physical Requirements

  • Willing and able to perform tasks such as lifting, walking, climbing, stooping, standing, pushing and/or pulling for up to twelve (12) hours a day
  • Willing and able to work around moving equipment and machinery
  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
