This $4.6 billion project, awarded by the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT), is a key public-private partnership aimed at reducing congestion on a major highway in the Atlanta metropolitan area.
Job Description
Utility Coordination & Relocation
Lead utility conflict assessments during pre-design and design phases.
Manage relocation of electrical transmission and distribution, gas, telecom, water, and sewer utilities with various agencies (e.g., ONCOR, ATMOS, Verizon, AT&T, City Engineering Departments).
Coordinate with design and procurement teams to integrate utility requirements into project scope and contract documents.
Project & Contract Management
Lead pre-construction, task-specific, weekly, pre-walkthrough, and final walkthrough meetings with internal teams, subcontractors, and utility owners.
Manage contracts with multiple subcontractors, including interpretation of contract clauses, approval of time & material (T&M) work, and coordination of work phases.
Prepare, review, and control utility department budgets, ensuring accurate monthly reporting and justification of deviations.
Team Leadership
Manage and mentor a multidisciplinary team (project managers, surveyors, superintendents, assistants).
Oversee performance of subcontractors and ensure alignment with project requirements.
Stakeholder & Regulatory Coordination
Liaise with city agencies, state authorities, and private utility companies to ensure timely approvals and compliance with regulations.
Maintain effective communication with project owners, design teams, and construction management.
Documentation & Reporting
Ensure accurate and timely preparation of project documentation, closeout materials, and regulatory compliance reports.
Report progress to management team.
Required Skills and Competencies
Bachelorβs degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
Minimum 10+ years of experience in infrastructure projects, with at least 5 years in utility relocation management.
Proven experience managing large-scale design-build or P3 projects
Strong understanding of electrical, gas, telecom, and water/sewer utility systems.
Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, contracts, and multidisciplinary teams.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills with clients, subcontractors, and public agencies.
Proficiency in project management software and MS Office Suite.
