Role Overview
Fluence is seeking a Communications Manager to support media relations, social media, and thought leadership activities in the United States and emerging markets across the Americas region, as well as corporate level communications initiatives. This role will help strengthen Fluence’s brand, support our reputation as a trusted energy storage partner, and help position the company as a leading voice on the future of the grid.
The Communications Manager will be part of the global Corporate Communications team and will report to Fluence’s Director of External Communications. In this highly cross-functional role, you will partner closely with U.S. leadership, sales, marketing, policy, and other teams to develop and execute communications strategies that support business growth, manage issues, and build trust with customers, policymakers, and media.
This is a hands-on role that combines strategic thinking with strong execution skills, particularly in media engagement, content development, and proactive storytelling.
Key Responsibilities
Support media relations in the United States and emerging Americas markets as well as at the corporate level, including identifying priority stories, building relationships with key journalists, helping to manage agency partners, and proactively pitching news and thought leadership angles that support Fluence’s local and global narrative.
Develop and execute local communications plans aligned with global corporate communications strategies, with a particular focus on energy storage, renewables integration, grid modernization, and data center growth.
Draft high-quality external content, including press releases, media statements, op-eds, bylined articles, talking points, Q&As, briefing documents, and executive presentations.
Support thought leadership, including shaping messaging, securing and managing speaking opportunities, and developing content.
Serve as the owner of all social media content for the United States and emerging Americas markets. Develop and publish engaging social media content across relevant platforms to amplify key communication initiatives, ensuring alignment with brand voice and campaign objectives.
Coordinate and execute market-level press conferences and provide communications support for local events such as ribbon cuttings, sponsored events, and public policy briefings.
Assist the Director of External Communications with crisis and issues communications in the United States and the broader region.
Provide counsel to internal stakeholders in collaboration with the Director of External Communications on media engagement, messaging, and reputational considerations, helping leaders and spokespeople navigate complex and sensitive topics.
Work closely with marketing and sales teams to ensure communications efforts support pipeline development, customer engagement, and key commercial milestones, including strategic project announcements.
Coordinate local amplification of global announcements, adapting messaging for local audiences and ensuring consistency with global positioning and brand voice.
Monitor and report on media coverage and communications performance across the United States and key Americas markets, providing regular insights and recommendations to the global Corporate Communications team.
Help maintain and evolve Fluence’s messaging and narratives to reflect regional priorities, regulatory developments, and customer needs, while staying aligned with global reputation and thought leadership pillars.
Assist with market-level internal communications initiatives as needed.
Required Qualifications & Experience
6+ years of experience in external communications, public relations, or corporate communications, ideally with a focus on media relations and thought leadership in the energy, infrastructure, technology, or related sectors.
Proven experience working with media, including established relationships with energy, business, technology, and policy reporters; experience across additional Americas markets is strongly preferred.
Energy industry experience strongly preferred, particularly in renewables, grid infrastructure, utilities, or energy storage; familiarity with policy and regulatory debates in the energy sector is a plus.
Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing, public affairs, or a related field.
Demonstrated ability to translate complex, technical topics into clear, compelling stories for business, policy, and general audiences.
Experience managing social media channels and drafting content for social media.
Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to adapt tone and style for different audiences and channels.
Comfort working in a global, matrixed organization, collaborating across time zones with colleagues in corporate communications, marketing, legal, policy, operations, and commercial teams.
High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
A growth mindset and collaborative approach. Comfortable taking initiative, giving and receiving feedback, and contributing to a global team culture of learning, experimentation, and continuous improvement.
Proficiency in MS Office Suite and familiarity with media monitoring and media relations tools; experience with social media and digital channels is a plus.
