What you will do:
Electra is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Level II Test Technician to support the testing and validation of materials, components, and systems in a laboratory and pilot-scale environment. This role involves hands-on execution of test protocols, data collection, equipment maintenance, and collaboration with engineering and R&D teams. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, experience with lab instrumentation, and a commitment to safety and quality.
Responsibilities include:
- Perform routine and advanced testing of materials and components according to established procedures and protocols
- Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory and pilot-scale equipment
- Record and analyze test data, identify anomalies, and report findings to engineering and scientific teams
- Assist in the development and refinement of test methods and procedures
- Troubleshoot equipment and process issues during testing
- Maintain accurate documentation, including test logs, calibration records, and safety checklists
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards
- Support continuous improvement initiatives in testing workflows and lab operations
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support product development and process optimization
What we need you to bring to the team:
- Associate degree or technical diploma in engineering technology, materials science, chemistry, or a related field with
- 3+ years of experience in a laboratory, manufacturing, or testing environment
- Hands-on experience with mechanical, electrical, or chemical testing equipment and familiarity with standard testing procedures and data collection methods
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and specifications with strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Basic proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools such as Excel or LIMS, and the ability to prepare accurate documentation and reports
- Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to interact with individuals across teams in a professional and tactful manner
- Ability to follow SOPs, work independently with minimal supervision, and apply common sense and prior experience to select the best option from defined procedures and solutions
- Experience working on semi-routine assignments where problems are generally known and defined, with occasional need for fact-finding to resolve issues
- Demonstrated ability to contribute to team goals through personal accountability and effort, with impact typically at the immediate team level and occasionally in customer-facing roles
What we want you to bring to the team:
- 5+ years of experience in a laboratory, manufacturing, or testing environment with exposure to pilot plant operations or scale-up testing
- Experience in battery materials, metallurgy, or chemical process testing with familiarity in automated testing systems and data acquisition tools
- Knowledge of statistical process control (SPC) and quality assurance practices, with the ability to apply defined and documented processes to ensure accuracy and compliance
- Ability to adapt solutions for related problems in varied situations, requiring fact-finding and analysis to determine the most appropriate response
- Proven track record of delivering high-quality and timely results with accountability for own work and minimal supervision, receiving only general instruction on new assignments
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in fast-paced, innovation-driven environments while up-skilling or supporting new team members as needed
Compensation:
- The anticipated starting pay range for this position is $25-$28 per hour and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, and education
