Test Engineering Intern

Test Engineering Intern on the Reliability Testing team at Lunar Energy will be responsible for ensuring the validation of the product throughout the entire lifecycle of our revolutionary home energy products. On a given day at Lunar, you’ll likely:

  • Perform and execute various types of testing as part of our hardware validation process. Responsible end to end for testing - including test planning, test stand development, execution, root cause and reporting/data processing 
  • Design and build test stands for electrical, thermal and mechanical systems 
    • Write Python scripts to enable test automation and process large data sets coming out of the test
    • Work with technicians for designing and building test stands  
    • Specify test stand equipment and instrumentation 
  • For test failures and field failures, help drive failure analysis investigations and countermeasure validation with design team, reliability team and failure analysis lab 
  • Collaborate with electrical, mechanical and firmware engineers across the company to develop thoughtful test plans 
  • Analyze test data, write test reports and help extract important takeaways from the data 
  • Contribute to various test infrastructure improvement efforts (ranging from contributing new features and functions to the code base, creating custom test equipment…etc) 

Skills desired

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering in progress. Focus on Mechatronics Engineering is a plus. 
  • Highly curious with hands-on project experience,  
  • Python or equivalent programming experience (e.g. MATLAB scripting) 
  • Working knowledge of static/mechanics of materials, electronics/circuit analysis and heat and mass transfer
  • Experience with standard lab/test equipment like power supplies, multimeters, DAQs, various sensors/instrumentation…etc
  • Basic mechanical design experience/familiarity with CAD software is a plus

Our Compensation Philosophy: Our goal is to ensure that all Lunar Energy employees are fairly compensated. Please note that the hourly range information that follows is a good faith estimate for this position provided pursuant to the Pay Transparency for Pay Equity Act for California applicants. The hourly range estimate for this position depending on level of experience is: $20 - $38 USD.

The actual offer, reflecting the total compensation package & benefits, will be at the company’s sole discretion, and determined by factors including but not limited to years of experience, job level, geographic location, and other relevant business considerations.
