Job Description:
The Systems Engineer - Geotechnical, based in Sorocaba, Brazil, will report to the Systems Engineering Manager. You will assist on the proposal and execution of research projects and field experiments on foundations and other structural systems to generate data that will be incorporated into engineering software applications to make design stages faster, scalable, optimized and automated. In this role you will ensure that NexTrackerβs internal design procedures for foundations and civil engineering are at the cutting edge of market practices.
Daily activities:
- Execute existing research plans for foundation solutions and structures;
- Develop computational programs aimed at analysis and design of foundations;
- Prepare technical documentation of developed codes;
- Gather price quotation for laboratory services;
- Monitor execution of field activities and elaborate field reports for management evaluation;
- Assist structural, geotechnical and civil engineers to update geotechnical and civil internal standards, specifications, models, and design tools;
- Work with data scientists and simulation engineers to leverage experimental and numerical data from complex analyses to update scalable engineering tools for structural and geotechnical design;
- Comply with policies, procedures, and standards related to the company, code of conduct, work process, confidentiality agreements, and quality management system;
- Filter communication between the systems engineering team and end users from the project engineering department to gather feedback on tool usage and report bugs and issues to management.
The experience we are looking to add to our team:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil and Geotechnical Engineering or related field;
- 2+ years of experience in research and/or development in geotechnical engineering;
- 2+ years experience in overseeing construction activities;
- Application of engineering standards, codes, and other applicable state and federal guidelines, including but not limited to NBR, Eurocode, ASCE, AISC, CFE, and IBC for civil engineering applications;
- Basic knowledge of python programming;
- Basic knowledge of structural field instrumentation for static and dynamic analyses;
- Experience overseeing and executing pull-out, vertical electrical sounding and permeability tests for foundations;
- Reading and interpretation of technical drawings and geotechnical field/laboratory reports;
- Intermediary English;
Desirable:
- Experience with foundation analysis and design of solar trackers;
- Knowledge of corrosion mechanisms in steel structures and foundations;
