This role is about identifying and closing gaps in system performance, network architecture, and security posture while feeding critical lessons learned back into product development. In this position, you will: • Look across the global fleet’s performance from a network and cybersecurity standpoint, identifying systemic issues and improvement opportunities. • Develop and implement solutions to known gaps, ensuring resilient and secure fleet operation. • Influence products in development by embedding technical lessons learned from the field into next-generation design. • Recognize that in many markets, network architecture and cybersecurity are directly tied to commercial success and even broader geopolitical considerations. • Help quantify issues, propose solutions, and execute fixes that strengthen both our deployed systems and our future offerings. • Develop and manage patch and change management processes for in-service assets’ firmware and cyber components ________________________________________ KEY RESPONSIBILITIES • Investigate and resolve complex system issues involving Linux environments, Cisco networking gear (switches, firewalls), and secure communications. • Perform Linux-level troubleshooting (services, logs, system performance) to isolate and document issues before escalating to Product teams. • Configure, troubleshoot, and maintain Cisco switches/firewalls including VLANs, routing, and ACLs. • Collaborate with product engineering and cybersecurity specialists to align with operational technology (OT) cybersecurity standards and drive best practices across the fleet. • Manage and support cybersecurity and patching processes, including network device updates, firmware patch management, and validation of secure deployments. • Support hardening of OT systems, ensuring secure configurations, segmentation, and access control. • Partner with software teams to assess vulnerabilities, validate updates, and ensure secure deployment across the fleet. • Translate fleet findings into actionable design considerations for future products. ________________________________________ WHAT WILL OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE BRING? • 3–6 years experience in Systems, Reliability, or Sustaining Engineering in complex/critical infrastructure and distributed systems (energy, aerospace, industrial). • Strong expertise in Linux administration: logs, services, scripting, troubleshooting. • Hands-on knowledge of Cisco networking: switch/firewall config, ACLs, VLANs, routing, VPNs, troubleshooting tools (Wireshark). • Familiarity with OT cybersecurity principles (segmentation, secure protocols, access controls). • Experience with network/firmware patch management, including validating updates and ensuring secure rollouts. • Awareness of cybersecurity standards such as NERC CIP, IEC 62443, ISO 27001 — direct experience preferred, willingness to grow required. • Ability to bridge field lessons and product design, influencing upstream architecture. • 8D problem solving expertise or other root cause analysis methods • Excellent communication skills across engineering, product, and commercial teams. Preferred • Certifications a plus (Linux+, CCNA, CISSP, or equivalent). • Experience in industrial control systems, BESS, or other mission-critical hardware/software systems. • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum practices. Our Culture
