Job Description:
The Systems Engineer - Geotechnical, based in Sorocaba, Brazil, will report to the Systems Engineering Manager. You will develop and implement advanced software for analysis and design of foundations and civil engineering procedures. This role will involve leveraging experience in state-of-the-art geotechnical analysis and design along with geostatistics and computer programming to develop engineering applications that will make design stages faster, scalable, optimized and automated. In this role you will ensure that NexTrackerβs internal design procedures for foundations and civil engineering are at the cutting edge of market practices.
Daily activities:
- Research and implement state-of-the-art practices in foundation engineering and geostatistics, leveraging artificial intelligence frameworks;
- Develop, refactor, and validate computational programs aimed at analysis and design of foundations, including the applications of soil zoning methods and geotechnical report processing;
- Prepare technical documentation of developed codes;
- Develop products and generate complete understanding of them;
- Coordinate with structural, geotechnical and civil engineers to create and update geotechnical and civil internal standards, specifications, models, and design tools;
- Work with data scientists and simulation engineers to leverage experimental and numerical data from complex analyses to update scalable engineering tools for structural and geotechnical design;
- Comply with policies, procedures, and standards related to the company, code of conduct, work process, confidentiality agreements, and quality management system;
- Liaise with subject-matter experts from product development, software development and project engineering departments to gather requirements for implementing geotechnical and civil engineering software.
The experience we are looking to add to our team:
- Postgraduate degree in Civil, Geotechnical Engineering or related field;
- 4+ years of experience in research and/or development in geotechnical engineering;
- Application of engineering standards, codes, and other applicable state and federal guidelines, including but not limited to NBR, Eurocode, ASCE, AISC, CFE, and IBC for civil engineering applications;
- Scientific computing with Python or similar;
- Experience in developing proprietary codes for foundation design and soil zoning leveraging geostatistics (FEA or similar, experience with frameworks such as Py-QGIS);
- Experience overseing and executing pull-out, vertical electrical sounding and permeability tests for foundations;
- Experience with Artificial Intelligence frameworks for structural and geotechnical engineering applications;
- Experience with statistical treatment of experimental data gathered from full scale experiments;
- Reading and interpretation of technical drawings and geotechnical field reports;
- Great interpersional and communication skills;
- Advanced English;
Desirable:
- Experience with foundation analysis and design of solar trackers;
- Masters in geotechnical engineering or computational mechanics;
- Post-graduate degree in artificial intelligence;
- Basic Spanish;
