The SR400 Express Lanes Project is a transformative $4.6 billion infrastructure initiative led by SR400 Constructors, a 50/50 joint venture between Flatiron Dragados and ACCIONA. Commissioned by the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) and Georgia State Road Tollway Authority (SRTA), the project will add two 16-mile express lanes from Sandy Springs MARTA Station (Exit 5) to McFarland (Exit 12), enhancing mobility along one of Georgia’s busiest corridors. With a peak workforce of over 500, the project also includes dedicated bus rapid transit stations and key bridge refurbishments. Construction is set to begin in late 2025, with substantial completion anticipated in 2031.

A Survey Segment Manager plays a pivotal role in leading Geomatics teams and overseeing surveying operations within large civil construction projects. This position requires strategic leadership, technical expertise, and the ability to manage resources, budgets, and stakeholder relationships to ensure high-quality, precise survey deliverables.

Job Description

  • Leadership: Provide clear strategic direction and operational guidance to the Geomatics teams assigned to individual projects or programs, ensuring compliance with Flatiron Dragados’ standards and policies.

  • Team Management: Lead one or multiple Geomatics teams, assigning tasks, offering technical guidance, and cultivating a cooperative and high-performance work culture.

  • Project Management: Oversee the application of Geomatics practices and resources on specific projects. Ensure that the right techniques, personnel, and equipment are deployed to meet project objectives effectively.

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Develop and sustain strong relationships with project managers and other key project stakeholders. Ensure that Geomatics deliverables address project needs, focusing on safety, quality, adherence to schedules, and accuracy in field operations.

  • Data Processing: Review, process, and interpret topographic and cross-sectional data for project planning, design, quantity estimation, and cost forecasting, supporting both project management and engineering efforts.

  • Technical Proficiency: Apply deep knowledge of Geomatics principles to drive project outcomes, resolving technical challenges and enhancing methodologies.

  • Quality Control: Implement and enforce quality assurance protocols to maintain the precision and reliability of Geomatics data and services.

  • Budget and Resource: Collaborate with project teams to manage Geomatics budgets, ensuring optimal use of resources within budget constraints to enhance project profitability.

  • Training and Development: Encourage continuous learning and professional development within Flatiron Dragados, aligning with the latest industry trends and technological advancements.

  • Risk Management: Proactively identify and mitigate risks associated with Geomatics operations on projects, ensuring project timelines and quality are maintained.

  • Interdepartmental Cooperation: Work collaboratively with other departments to ensure that Geomatics services are well-integrated into the overall project strategy, enhancing project execution.

  • Technology Advancements: Keep abreast of the latest in Geomatics technology and equipment, integrating new tools that can improve efficiency or accuracy in Geomatics operations. Oversee equipment maintenance and calibration programs.

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Experience:

    • At least 15 years in construction Geomatics, with considerable experience managing Geomatics teams on heavy civil projects.

    • Demonstrated ability to lead teams through project lifecycles, ensuring successful project outcomes.

  • Leadership Skills: Strong leadership capabilities with a track record of motivating teams, implementing best practices, and fostering a positive work environment.

  • Client Focus: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain client relationships and understand their project requirements deeply.

  • Technical Proficiency:

    • Experience with state-of-the-art Geomatics software and tools like total stations, GPS systems, and software for data modeling and manipulation.

    • Comprehensive understanding of construction documentation, specifications, and Geomatics mathematics.
