Job Responsibilities

  • Facilitate supplier onboarding activities and own supplier readiness milestones to ensure proper conformance to technical, quality, and capacity requirements.
  • Lead supplier qualification through quality management system audits, PPAP completion, and iterative design feedback.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to establish clear material specification requirements, testing methodologies, and manufacturing acceptance criteria.
  • Work closely with Strategic Sourcing members on supplier selection, BOM optimization, and owning supplier relationships.
  • Provide input to suppliers for improving manufacturing processes, quality controls, and overall efficiency in order to optimize yield and cost.
  • Provide closed loop feedback on supplier quality by issuing supplier nonconformances, validating CAPAs, and taking preemptive actions to mitigate risk with suppliers.
  • Establish testing plans for materials and drive timely completion to support NPI.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Materials, Chemical Engineering (or similar technical field), or evidence of exceptional ability through related industry experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience relevant to supplier industrialization, supplier quality, or materials development.
  • Hands-on experience implementing PPAP and qualifying suppliers in a mass production environment.
  • Strong project management and communication skills to align internal and external stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with a variety of manufacturing processes (die casting, metal forming, extrusion, injection molding, mechanical assembly, etcetera).
  • Knowledge of a variety of analysis techniques for evaluating materials properties.
  • Understanding of ISO9001:2015 requirements and the ability to coach external partners on QMS improvements.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally on average 20% of the time, with some trips being on short notice.

Preferred Requirements

  • Experience qualifying suppliers through structured frameworks such as APQP.
  • Involvement in drafting and rolling-out supplier quality agreements.
  • Previous employment in the battery industry.

Participation in supplier audits in relation to ISO9001:2015, IATF 16949, and employer requirements.

Compensations Range:

The expected base salary range for this position is between

$115,400.00 - $173,200.00

The level of pay within the range will depend on a variety of job-related factors that may include location, relevant prior experience and/or education, or particular skills and expertise.

The level of pay within the range will depend on a variety of job-related factors that may include location, relevant prior experience and/or education, or particular skills and expertise. New hires joining the company tend to be paid within the starting base pay range noted above, with opportunities to increase pay over time based on development of additional skills, competencies, and company-specific knowledge.

In addition to base pay this position is eligible for tier based bonus and equity, healthcare, dental, vision, corporate discounts, paid holidays, PTO and sick time, 401K, employee relocation plan (if applicable)
