Position Summary

The Supervisor, Mobile Service Operations is responsible for leading a team of traveling Wind Technicians who provide maintenance, troubleshooting, project execution, and operational support across Deriva Energy's wind fleet. This position is accountable for delivering safe, efficient, and high-quality work while supporting multiple assets throughout the region.

The Supervisor will oversee day-to-day field activities, coordinate workforce planning, ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards, and manage employee development and performance. This role requires frequent travel to operational wind sites and serves as a key partner to Site Managers, Operations leadership, contractors, and corporate support teams to execute fleet-wide priorities.

The Supervisor is expected to maintain strong technical expertise and actively support field operations, including troubleshooting turbine and balance-of-plant (BOP) systems, performing maintenance activities, and climbing wind turbines as required.

This is an onsite position with the ability to sit at our Canby, MN or Tye, TX location.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of traveling Wind Technicians supporting planned maintenance, corrective maintenance, major component exchanges, commissioning activities, and special projects across multiple wind sites

  • Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with Deriva Energy policies, OEM procedures, and industry best practices

  • Provide workforce planning, scheduling, and coordination to support fleet operational priorities and emergent maintenance needs

  • Support troubleshooting and repair of wind turbine equipment, substations, collection systems, transmission infrastructure, and other balance-of-plant components

  • Maintain accountability for work quality, productivity, safety performance, and overall project execution delivered by employees, contractors, and vendors

  • Coach, mentor, and develop technicians through training, performance management, and career development planning

  • Partner with Site Managers and Operations leadership to allocate resources and provide additional support during forced outages, major repairs, equipment retrofits, and fleet initiatives

  • Manage administrative responsibilities including timesheet approvals, travel coordination, performance evaluations, safety documentation, training compliance, and budget oversight

  • Ensure adherence to all environmental, regulatory, and operational compliance requirements

  • Maintain effective communication and collaboration with internal stakeholders, contractors, suppliers, and asset management teams

  • Travel to wind facilities throughout the Deriva fleet as required to support operational objectives

Basic Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Six (6) years or more of wind industry experience

  • Three (3) years or more of technical experience as a Wind Technician

  • Demonstrated leadership experience or proven ability to lead field teams

  • Must pass required Job Performance Measures (JPMs) for external candidates

  • Valid driver's license

Desired Qualifications

  • Previous experience supervising traveling field teams or maintenance technicians

  • Must possess Turbine Technician Levels 1 & 2 and Electrical Operator Levels 1 & 2 certifications (or equivalent internal qualifications)

  • Strong understanding of wind turbine troubleshooting, maintenance, and major component replacement activities

  • Experience supporting multiple wind technologies and OEM platforms

  • Proven ability to manage workforce logistics, scheduling, and resource allocation across geographically dispersed locations

  • Successful track record of developing and mentoring technicians

  • Knowledge of crane operations, rigging practices, and heavy equipment used in wind turbine maintenance

  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to complete Supervisor Job Performance Measures within the probationary period

  • Experience supporting fleet-wide initiatives, outages, and special projects

Working Conditions

  • Frequent travel required to support wind facilities throughout the Deriva Energy fleet

  • This is an onsite position with the ability to sit at our Canby, MN or Tye, TX location- relocation can be provided for not local candidates

  • Ability to climb wind turbine towers up to 375 feet on a regular basis

  • Exposure to mechanical, electrical, and environmental hazards

  • Exposure to extreme outdoor weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, wind, and snow

  • Ability to operate company vehicles, forklifts, and other equipment used in wind operations

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds individually

  • Ability to walk, climb stairs, ladders, and scaffolding

  • Completion of OEM or third-party technical training programs

  • Position contains a weight restriction of 265 pounds as an essential function of the job to ensure compliance with safety and equipment limitations
