Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough industrial hygiene assessments focused on chemical hazards, including airborne contaminants, toxic substances, and chemical handling processes in manufacturing settings.
- Perform air sampling, noise monitoring, and other exposure assessments using specialized equipment to evaluate employee exposure levels.
- Analyze industrial hygiene data to identify potential health risks and develop effective control strategies such as engineering controls, administrative policies, and PPE recommendations.
- Develop, implement, and manage chemical safety programs, including Hazard Communication, Chemical Hygiene Plans, and exposure control plans.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA’s Hazard Communication Standard (HAZCOM), Process Safety Management (PSM), and other relevant regulations pertaining to hazardous chemicals.
- Collaborate with EHS, production, and management teams to integrate industrial hygiene practices into daily operations.
- Lead incident investigations related to chemical exposures and recommend corrective and preventive measures.
- Conduct employee training on chemical hazards, safe handling procedures, and emergency response protocols.
- Stay current with industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices related to chemical safety and industrial hygiene.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health, Occupational Safety, or related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in industrial hygiene within a manufacturing environment involving hazardous chemicals.
- Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) or equivalent certification strongly preferred.
- Extensive knowledge of OSHA regulations, including HazCom, PSM, and other chemical safety standards.
- Proficiency with industrial hygiene monitoring equipment and software for data collection and analysis.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and lead initiatives in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
Working Conditions:
- Primarily industrial/manufacturing facility environment.
- Will require wearing personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Hazardous materials environment.
