Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and monitor safety programs and procedures specific to manufacturing processes involving hazardous materials.
- Conduct OSHA-mandated safety training sessions for employees, including Hazard Communication, Lockout/Tagout, PPE, Emergency Response, and other required topics.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA, and other relevant federal, state, and local safety regulations.
- Conduct regular risk assessments and hazard analyses to identify potential safety issues and recommend corrective actions.
- Collaborate with engineering, production, and maintenance teams to integrate safety measures into the design and operation of equipment and processes.
- Lead safety training sessions and workshops for employees.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses to determine root causes and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Manage emergency response plans related to hazardous materials incidents and coordinate drills and exercises.
- Maintain accurate safety documentation, including Safety Data Sheets (SDS), permits, inspection reports, training logs, and audit records.
- Conduct routine inspections and audits to ensure adherence to safety standards and company policies.
- Recommend improvements in engineering controls, administrative controls, and personal protective equipment (PPE) to minimize risks.
- Stay current on industry best practices, emerging safety technologies, and changes in regulatory requirements.
- Lead Lockout/Tagout procedure development and training.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Safety Engineering, Environmental Health and Safety, or a related field.
- Professional certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or OSHA Authorized Trainer preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in safety engineering within a manufacturing environment handling hazardous materials preferred.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA standards, HAZMAT regulations, NFPA codes, and environmental compliance.
- Demonstrated experience in delivering OSHA safety training and maintaining compliance documentation.
- Proficiency in conducting risk assessments, Job Safety Analysis (JSA), and incident investigations.
- Excellent communication, training, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in safety management systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
Working Conditions:
- Primarily based in a manufacturing facility with exposure to hazardous chemicals, noise, and industrial equipment.
- Will require wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to strict safety protocols.
