This position supports the Financial Accounting & Reporting Manager with a broad range of month-end close responsibilities, technical accounting research and various financial accounting duties.
Responsibilities
Identify, research and document technical accounting treatment related to acquisitions, divestments, swaps, corporate structure reorganization plans and other business activities ensuring compliance with IFRS and/or US GAAP.
Prepare single entity and consolidated financial statements with related footnote disclosures in accordance with applicable accounting standards.
Analyze and summarize financial information for various entities and business units as required for management reporting and to support external reporting requirements.
Support various aspects of the month-end close process including recording of journal entries, preparation of comparative period variance analysis and assisting others with interpreting and implementing new accounting standards and policies.
Support the Corporate Head Office Consolidation Team with relevant data for interim and annual external reporting and communication of complex accounting matters.
Prepare single entity and consolidated financial statements with related footnote disclosures in accordance with applicable accounting standards.
Review contracts with complex financial arrangements for accounting implications including lease accounting, revenue recognition and business combinations and prepare related technical accounting memos.
Liaise with internal and external auditors ensuring timely delivery of audit requests, resolution of outstanding issues and addressing questions related to technical accounting matters.
Prepare single entity and consolidated financial statements with related footnote disclosures in accordance with applicable accounting standards.
Evaluate processes and internal controls for continuous improvement recommendations and opportunities to implement automation, efficiency and cost savings.
Education and Experience Requirements
The legal authorization to work in the US for any US employer without the need for sponsorship
Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting
10+ years of financial accounting, reporting and/or audit experience
Strong understanding of accounting principles with working knowledge of IFRS and/or US GAAP
Prior hands-on experience working in the E&P industry
Prior experience with SAP or similar accounting system required
Advanced level in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint required
Public accounting experience and CPA license preferred
