Summer Social Media & Communications Intern

Organization: Aspen Center for Environmental Studies

Location: Aspen and Basalt, CO.

Duration: Summer, June-August (exact dates determined by candidate’s schedule)


Position Overview: Aspen Center for Environmental Studies (ACES) seeks an Environmental Non-Profit Summer Intern to support social media and communications. We are in need of someone who is passionate about social media, follows trends, and loves capturing moments at events.

ACES is a non-profit environmental science education organization with four locations in the

Roaring Fork Valley: Hallam Lake, Rock Bottom Ranch, and the Catto Center at Toklat. Since 1968, ACES has been meeting its mission to create a community of knowledgeable, capable, and motivated environmental stewards through its environmental science programs for adults and children. ACES’ mission is “educating for environmental responsibility.”

The Environmental Non-Profit Summer Intern will work 10-20 hours per week during the June through August timeframe. In this position, a highly motivated individual will be given a comprehensive overview of non-profit marketing, communication, and daily operations– gain valuable experience at an environmental nonprofit.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Main Priority: Manage ACES’ Social Accounts for its’ three sites during our busiest season!
  2. Support the marketing team in daily administrative tasks.
  3. Assist in marketing and advertising promotional activities (social media, email, flyers, etc.)
  4. Help organize marketing materials for events.


Possible Responsibilities:

  1. Assist with community calendar postings and partnership networking.
  2. Prepare promotional presentations/documents and help with distribution of materials.
  3. Provide on-site support during events for communications and marketing (guest experience, covering desk for onsite, etc.)
  4. Provide on-site support during events, including setup, and breakdown.


Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in high school or a degree program in a relevant field such as non-profit management, communications, marketing, or similar fields.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in data entry and record-keeping.
  • Proficiency in Google suite and familiarity with database management systems.
  • Enthusiastic team player with a positive attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Passion for the mission and values of ACES.

Housing
Housing is not provided. Applicants that do not already have housing in the Roaring Fork Valley should be aware that securing housing here during the summer can be extremely difficult.

Transportation

You need to have your own mode of transportation or be located near public transportation.
