Job Description:
Join a global market leader in energy storage products and services, driving the

Validate MV/HV transformers for Battery Energy Storage System projects in the APAC region, ensuring grid compliance, seamless PCS integration, and reliable, safe performance across the full project lifecycle.
Summary:
Responsible for review and validation of the design and specification of MV/HV transformers used in Battery Energy Storage Systems, ensuring safety, grid-compliance, and seamless integration with PCS/inverter systems.
Supports project engineering across design, procurement, and commissioning phases in APAC projects and other Fluence regions globally.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop and review transformer specifications, including ratings, voltage ratios, winding configurations, thermal limits, and cooling methods in line with IEC/IEEE/AS standards and customer technical requirements.
• Perform transformer sizing, impedance selection, thermal modelling, and efficiency calculations. Review and validate round-trip efficiency impacts associated with transformer selections.
• Ensure compliance with grid codes, BESS integration requirements, and project technical documentation needs.
• Validate compatibility between PCS and step-up transformers, including harmonic and loading considerations for four-quadrant operation.
• Review supplier designs, support technical evaluations, FATs, and onsite
implementation requirements such as bunding, oil containment, and safety
compliance.
• Provide engineering support across the project lifecycle, including calculations, drawings, documentation, and technical clarifications in collaboration with transformer OEM, Project design and Engineering teams, and Project
procurement team.
Other Requirements:
• Familiarity with IEC/AS 60076, IEEE C57, and other relevant standards on MV/HV transformers.
• Collaborates effectively with global teams, demonstrating strong communication, coordination, and stakeholder-management skills.
• Proficiency with electrical modelling tools (e.g., ETAP, PSCAD) is desirable.
• Works as a proactive team player with a collaborative, solution-oriented mind set.
• Maintains flexibility to travel for supplier visits, design reviews, FATs, and
project-site support as required, across the APAC region.
• Contributes to overall project success through disciplined documentation,
technical clarity, and professional engagement.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s/Master’s in Electrical or Power Engineering.
• 5+ years in MV/HV transformer design, specification, or testing.
• Strong knowledge of IEC 60076 / IEEE C57 standards and grid-connected power systems.
• Experience with renewable energy, substations, or energy storage projects preferred.
