Job Description:

Role Overview
We are seeking a high‑caliber, analytical, and seasoned Senior Payroll Specialist to lead our multi‑country payroll operations. This is a critical, high‑impact role that goes far beyond transaction processing. The ideal candidate is a trusted payroll and employment tax expert with a deep understanding of compliance, a strong command of ADP Workforce Now, and proven experience navigating the complexities of U.S. multi‑state, Canadian, and Chilean payroll environments.

Reporting to the Senior Payroll Manager within the Human Resources Operations team, this individual will bring an “audit‑ready” mindset, thrive in a fast‑paced environment, and proactively drive process improvements through automation, accuracy, and strong cross‑functional partnership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead end‑to‑end payroll processing for multi‑state U.S. payroll, as well as Canadian and Chilean payroll cycles, ensuring accurate calculation of wages, overtime, and statutory deductions

  • Serve as the subject‑matter expert for employment tax compliance, including federal, state, local, and international (Canada and Chile) tax regulations and wage and hour laws

  • Manage payroll tax registrations in new jurisdictions and oversee year‑end processes and filings (including W‑2s, T4s, and other statutory reporting)

  • Calculate and withhold taxes related to equity compensation, including stock option exercises and equity vesting

  • Manage complex benefit deductions and ensure accurate mapping and posting to the General Ledger

  • Perform full‑cycle payroll reconciliations, including journal entries, GL audits, and variance analysis

  • Coordinate payroll funding requests with Treasury and ensure SOX compliance and internal controls are consistently met

  • Identify and implement opportunities for automation and process optimization within ADP and Workday to improve efficiency, accuracy, and data integrity

  • Act as the primary point of contact for employee payroll inquiries and business partner questions, delivering high‑quality customer service and effective issue resolution

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in multi‑state U.S. payroll processing, with at least 4 years focused specifically on payroll tax and employment tax compliance

  • Hands‑on experience processing Canadian and Chilean payroll is highly preferred and may be required for the role

  • Expert‑level proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including XLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables, and data validation

  • Advanced experience with ADP Workforce Now is required

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation is a strong plus

  • Demonstrated ability to resolve complex payroll and tax discrepancies while managing high‑volume, competing priorities

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly explain complex payroll and tax concepts to diverse stakeholders

Additional Skills

  • Experience managing company‑issued stock plans and equity vesting

  • System experience with Workday Payroll

  • Bilingual Spanish skills are a plus to support Chilean operations
