Senior Mechanical Engineer

Own mechanical R&D for Fleetzero battery modules: From a clean-sheet concept through production-ready design.

ABOUT THE ROLE

You will be the driving force behind the full mechanical development lifecycle of our battery module products. That means owning designs from initial concept and first-article prototypes, through development testing, design validation, and into high-volume manufacturing. You will work closely with electrical, manufacturing, and systems engineering counterparts to deliver robust, producible hardware on aggressive schedules.

This is a hands-on role. You will be building and testing prototypes yourself, running experiments, and iterating quickly. If you are the type of engineer who is equally comfortable at a CAD workstation and a build bench,  this role is for you.

$100,000 - $150,000 a year

WHAT YOU'LL OWN

  • Mechanical design of battery module enclosures, thermal management systems, and structural assemblies from concept through production release
  • Prototype fabrication and first-article builds, you will get hands-on, not just hand off drawings
  • Development testing: design validation, environmental, vibration, thermal, and ingress protection testing
  • DFM/DFA collaboration with manufacturing engineering to ensure designs are producible and scalable
  • FEA and CFD analysis to validate designs analytically before committing to hardware
  • Managing and releasing engineering drawings, GD&T callouts, and BOMs in Solidworks PDM
  • Pathfinding new designs and materials, identifying better solutions before problems surface in production

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering
  • 5+ years of experience in product development with demonstrated ownership of hardware from prototype to production
  • Strong fundamentals in heat transfer, fluid mechanics, solid mechanics, and mechatronics
  • Expert-level Solidworks proficiency, including drawings with full GD&T
  • Hands-on experience with FEA tools (ANSYS, Abaqus, Solidworks Simulation, or similar) and CFD tools (Fluent, Star-CCM+, or similar)
  • Ability to improvise and test solutions quickly, you prototype on your own, not just through vendors
  • Experience designing for high-volume manufacture: injection molding, sheet metal, castings, extrusions, weldments
  • Comfortable working in a small team where ambiguity is normal and self-direction is required

BONUS POINTS

  • Experience with battery systems, power electronics enclosures, or thermal management for high-energy-density products
  • Background in marine, defense, automotive, or industrial equipment markets
  • Familiarity with IP-rated enclosure design and sealing strategies
  • Experience with liquid cooling systems design and qualification
