Deriva Energy is seeking a Senior or Lead Procurement Specialist to serve as a senior hand-on procurement leader supporting day‑to‑day sourcing and purchasing support for its renewable energy fleet. This role will be based at the company’s headquarters in Charlotte, North Carolina.
This role will be responsible for ensuring timely, compliant, and cost‑effective procurement in support of wind, solar, and energy storage operations. This position is ideal for a hands‑on experience procurement specialist who is comfortable working with a remote team and operating in a fast‑paced field‑operations environment.
Responsibilities
Operational Procurement Execution
Lead and execute procurement activities for operations, maintenance, equipment, spare parts, and field services supporting wind, solar, and energy storage assets
Provide direct procurement support to field operations teams, including urgent and unplanned operational needs, outage response, and critical equipment sourcing
Ensure adherence to procurement policies, controls, and approval thresholds and best practices across the team.
Sourcing & Supplier Management
Oversee sourcing activities and guide and issue RFPs, bid evaluations, and supplier recommendations for major equipment and services.
Lead or support contract negotiations for higher‑risk or higher‑value agreements.
Own key supplier relationships, including performance management and renewals.
Drive supplier standardization and preferred vendor strategies across the fleet.
Identify opportunities to improve procurement processes, tools, and templates.
Cross‑Functional Partnership
Partner closely with Fleet Operations, Asset Management, Engineering, Finance, and others in the procurement organization to execute on operational corporate initiatives.
Align procurement execution with asset reliability, availability, and cost objectives.
Translate operational needs into clear procurement direction for the team.
Basic Qualifications
Senior Procurement Specialist
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, Engineering, Operations Management, or related field with 3 years or more of relevant experience
In lieu of a Bachelor's degree; Associate degree with 5 years or more of relevant experience
In lieu of a Associate's degree; HS/GED with 7 years or more of relevant experience
Lead Procurement Specialist
Bachelor’s degree with 5 years or more of relevant experience
In lieu of a Bachelor's degree; Associate degree with 7 years or more of relevant experience
In Lieu of an Associate's degree; HS/GED with 9 years or more of relevant experience
Desired Qualifications
Experience supporting operations, maintenance, or field services procurement in energy, infrastructure, industrial, or asset-intensive environments.
Renewable energy experience (wind, solar, storage), particularly fleet or asset operations
Experience sourcing complex parts and negotiating O&M, equipment supply, and field services contracts
Working knowledge of MSAs, SLAs, warranties, and commercial risk allocation
Strong operational judgment in fast-moving, ambiguity-heavy environments
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and ERP / EAM tools (e.g., IBM Maximo)
Working Conditions
This role is based in Charlotte, NC
Employees must live within a reasonable daily commute to the designated office location
4 days in office required, option to work remotely 1 day per week
