We believe great projects start with great people. We are building a team with diverse perspectives who want to do meaningful work, grow their careers, and help deliver projects that strengthen communities and power everyday life. We hope you will join us.
Overview
The Senior Director/VP, Origination owns CCE’s market-facing origination function. You will lead a lean team primarily covering utility, Data Centers and near-term power market segments across North America, serve as a senior face of CCE to the market, and hold the relationships that drive commercial pipeline. This is a player-coach role, you remain active in market alongside leading the team, and you partner closely with BD, Strategy and Commercial Structuring as the front end of the commercial machine.
The right person understands power trading and hedging as fluently as utility procurement cycles, brings a network that opens doors, and can manage the full customer lifecycle from first contact through to deal execution.
Responsibilities
Market strategy and intelligence
- Own market coverage strategy across all the markets the company serves in the US
- Define priority states in collaboration with economic development and site selection teams; stay ahead of IRP cycles, large load tariff developments, interconnection queue movements and regulatory shifts
- Leverage CCE’s greenfield pipeline/ M&A pipeline and existing fleet to structure value-added solutions for customers, bridging near-term asset opportunities with long-dated commercial relationships
- Synthesize customer feedback and competitive intelligence and communicate it back into the organization to inform pipeline strategy, development decisions and product positioning
Customer relationships
- Build and maintain Senior and relevant level relationships with IOUs, electric co-ops, municipal utilities, Hyperscalers, Data Centers and C&I customers pursuing innovative commercial structures for renewable and gas supply; manage the full relationship lifecycle from qualification through to deal activation
- Serve as a senior face of CCE at industry conferences, RTO stakeholder meetings and utility working groups; act as executive sponsor on key accounts during active deal phases
Deal origination and execution
- Lead origination of utility offtake opportunities across solar, BESS, gas and hybrid configurations — PPAs, VPPAs, ESAs, build-transfer structures and bilateral hedges depending on customer need
- Own short-term and near-term power market origination as a distinct commercial function — bilateral hedges, short-term PPAs, capacity agreements and structured trades
- Apply energy trading and hedging experience to read near-term price signals, optimize asset value and structure transactions.
- Qualify opportunities against CCE’s commercial criteria and advance through the Deal Desk; serve as deal lead on strategic transactions through to term sheet (as needed alongside the Commercial Org); respond to utility RFPs and large load solicitations in coordination with the structuring team
Team leadership
- Lead, manage and develop the North American origination team driving clear accountability for market coverage, pipeline quality and relationship depth; set and hold standards for Deal Desk readiness, pipeline accuracy and handoff quality
- Build the operating cadence: pipeline reviews, monthly state coverage confirmation, quarterly market intelligence briefs, performance management and individual development conversations
- Design the team structure as CCE’s commercial ambition grows new coverage roles, specialist capability and geographic expansion in partnership with senior commercial leadership
Cross-functional collaboration
- Partner with Development to align coverage with site availability, interconnection status and COD timing; work with Finance and Structuring on deal economics; engage M&A on counterparties that present both origination and acquisition opportunities
- Collaborate with Legal on term sheets and LOIs;
- Maintain full pipeline visibility for leadership and EQT through disciplined Salesforce CRM management — stage, counterparty, product, size and probability current at all times
Education & Experience Required
- 10+ years in energy markets — power origination, utility commercial, or energy trading and structuring
- Established senior relationships across IOUs, Co-ops, Hyperscalers and C&I energy buyers across multiple RTOs
- Proven experience building and managing origination teams: strategy, people development, pipeline accountability and performance management
- Player-coach: actively originating at senior level while leading the team’s day-to-day commercial execution
- Deep knowledge of US power markets: RTO structure, LMP dynamics, capacity markets, large load tariffs, IRP and procurement cycles across MISO, SPP, SERC, WECC and PJM
- Hands-on experience with short-term power trading, bilateral hedging and near-term market transactions applied to both asset optimization and customer origination
- Demonstrated track record originating and executing utility offtake agreements PPAs, VPPAs, ESAs, build-transfer across multiple customer types and market structures
- Working knowledge of natural gas markets and physical infrastructure sufficient for commercial conversations on gas generation and hybrid configurations
Preferred
- Experience across utility-scale solar/BESS and gas — hybrid and dispatchable configurations
- Familiarity with ESA and Energy-as-a-Service commercial structures as an emerging product category
- Background spanning utility, IPP, hyperscaler, energy trading firm and/or independent developer — breadth valued over depth at a single employer
