Job Description

X-energy/ TRISO-X is seeking experienced professionals to join our team in the role of Senior Director, IT Fuel Facility. The candidate will define, lead, and govern enterprise-scale IT strategy and execution for the company’s nuclear fuel manufacturing operations. This role provides executive ownership and accountability for manufacturing IT platforms, ERP ecosystems, Fuel specific cybersecurity requirements, and regulated systems supporting fuel fabrication at scale.

The Senior Director acts as the senior-most IT authority for fuel manufacturing, shaping long-term digital strategy, operational resilience, and regulatory readiness in a high-growth, first-of-a-kind nuclear production environment. This role ensures sustained compliance with NRC, DOE, ITAR, NQA-1, and related regulatory frameworks while enabling TRISO-X to scale production, throughput, and business performance across current and future facilities.


Job Profile Tasks/Responsibilities:

  • IT Operations & Service Delivery
  • Provide executive leadership and defines accountability for planning, implementation, and lifecycle management of all IT systems specific to the nuclear fuel facility operations.
  • Establish enterprise service ownership models, defining accountability between the subsidiary of TRISO-X and the parent company of X-Energy, for system availability, disaster recovery, cybersecurity, validation, and audit readiness.
  • Govern system architectures, integrations, and data flows to ensure end-to-end traceability, quality assurance, and production continuity across regulated manufacturing operations.
  • Define and enforce service-level, resilience, and recovery standards aligned with nuclear safety, operational risk tolerance, and regulatory expectations.

Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management

  • Serve as the executive owner for IT compliance across NRC, DOE, ITAR, ISO-9001, NQA-1, 10 CFR 70, and related regulatory domains.
  • Partner with executive leaders in Quality, Operations, Engineering, Security, and Regulatory Affairs to ensure enterprise-wide audit readiness and defensible compliance posture.
  • Apply Enterprise IT governance, risk management, and control frameworks from X-Energy to TRISO-X as appropriate for licensed nuclear fuel fabrication.
  • Lead TRISO-X executive response to audits, inspections, findings, and corrective action programs related to IT systems and controls.

Strategic Leadership & Vision

  • Define and execute a multi-year enterprise IT strategy aligned with TRISO-X production scaling, future facility expansion, and X-Energy corporate objectives.
  • Act as a trusted executive advisor to TRISO-X and X-Energy leadership on technology investment strategy, digital manufacturing capabilities, and IT-enabled business transformation.
  • Balance long-range strategic planning with near-term operational execution in a fast-scaling, capital-intensive environment.

Enterprise Collaboration & Governance

  • Serve as the primary IT executive interface between TRISO-X Business Leadership and X-Energy corporate IT leadership.
  • Ensure enterprise alignment on architecture, cybersecurity, data governance, vendor strategy, and investment prioritization.
  • Represent TRISO-X IT in enterprise governance councils, capital allocation forums, and executive operating reviews.

Innovation & Digital Transformation

  • Sponsor and govern enterprise digital transformation initiatives, including MES evolution, automation, AI-enabled manufacturing analytics, digital engineering, and advanced quality systems.
  • Evaluate, pilot, and scale emerging technologies with clear business cases, regulatory defensibility, and measurable operational outcomes.
  • Establish a culture of continuous improvement, innovation discipline, and technology leadership within regulated manufacturing constraints.
  • Drive continuous improvement in IT service delivery, user experience, and business value realization.

Executive Stakeholder & Vendor Management

  • Build and maintain executive-level relationships with TRISO-X leadership, plant management, and functional executives.
  • Lead enterprise-scale vendor strategy, contract negotiations, and long-term partner relationships for mission-critical manufacturing systems.
  • Exercise executive authority over vendor performance, risk, compliance, and commercial outcomes.

Financial & Portfolio Management
  • Own multi-year IT capital planning, operating budgets, and investment governance for fuel manufacturing IT.
  • Establish financial discipline, ROI measurement, and portfolio prioritization aligned with production milestones and regulatory commitments.
  • Present and defend IT investment strategies at the executive and board-adjacent level as required.

Other Duties
  • Maintain executive presence and professional demeanor in all forms of communication with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Perform other executive-level duties as assigned by senior leadership.

Job Profile Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; MBA or advanced technical degree strongly preferred.

  • 15+ years of progressive IT leadership experience, including 5+ years at Director or Senior Director level within manufacturing or highly regulated industrial environments.

  • Demonstrated success leading enterprise-scale ERP, MES, and regulated manufacturing IT transformations.

  • Proven experience building and governing large, multi-disciplinary IT organizations in growth-stage or first-of-a-kind industrial environments.

  • Executive-level expertise in vendor strategy, contract negotiation, capital planning, and portfolio governance.

  • Strong financial acumen with experience managing multi-year, multi-million-dollar IT budgets.

  • Demonstrated executive leadership in organizational development, talent strategy, change management, and cross-functional influence.

  • Experience in nuclear, aerospace, defense, energy, or similarly regulated industries strongly preferred.

Work Site Expectations: 5 days a week in office

Travel: 10%

Hours: 8:00am-5:00pm, Mon-Fri

Compensation

As required by Maryland and other applicable state law, X Energy, LLC (X-energy) lists the expected compensation range for a publicly advertised job opportunity based upon the job requirements (e.g. education/training, experience, skill sets, etc.). Individual candidates who meet the job requirements for the posted position will be offered a salary within this range based on their respective levels of education/training, experience, and other qualifications unique to them. Salary ranges may vary based on the specific office location and region referenced in the posting to take into consideration differences in cost of living and may not be reflective of all regions. A reasonable estimate for this position at the level of experience required is:

$201,075- $335, 125
