Job Description

This role is positioned within an organizational function related to the intern's area of study. While learning from experienced professionals, the intern will support the execution and transformation of X-energy nuclear reactor licensing activities. Under guided supervision, the intern will assist in X-energy nuclear reactor licensing activities, including construction permit and operating license application preparation and reviews. The intern will also participate in activities contributing to streamlining and reducing the timeframe for nuclear reactor licensing reviews.


Job Profile Tasks/Responsibilities

  • Assist with tasks or projects related to the area of study .
  • Support construction permit and operating license pre-application and ongoing application review activities, including participating in meetings with the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, supporting the development of responses to information requests, and supporting the preparation of technical papers.
  • Support the development and execution of strategies to streamline and standardize the licensing process for new nuclear plants, ensuring regulatory compliance while reducing inefficiencies and providing consistent language across licensing documentation.
  • Provide support for day-to-day departmental or team operations.
  • Participate in brainstorming sessions, meetings, and project discussions offering input and feedback when appropriate.
  • Attend team meetings and contribute ideas and suggestions to enhance operational efficiency or project outcomes.
  • Help organize and maintain project files, documents, and records.
  • Conduct research and gather information for ongoing initiatives and projects.
  • Help prepare reports, presentations, or other materials as needed.
  • Maintain professional demeanor and behavior at all times in all forms of communication.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by manager.

Job Profile Minimum Qualifications

  • Current student or recent graduate pursuing a degree in engineering or science (e.g., mechanical, nuclear, electrical, physics) or other related area.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

In addition to a resume, candidates must submit at least one letter of recommendation as part of the application process. Letters should be from a professor, academic advisor, employer, or professional mentor who can speak to the candidate’s qualifications.

Location: 530 Gaither Road, Rockville, MD

Work Site Expectations: 5 days in office

Program Dates: Twelve (12) week program (May 18th to August 7th, 2026).
Hours: Standard office hours are 8:00am ET to 5:00pm ET, Monday -Friday

Compensation

As required by Maryland and other applicable state law, X Energy, LLC (X-energy) lists the expected compensation range for a publicly advertised job opportunity based upon the job requirements (e.g. education/training, experience, skill sets, etc.). Individual candidates who meet the job requirements for the posted position will be offered a salary within this range based on their respective levels of education/training, experience, and other qualifications unique to them. Salary ranges may vary based on the specific office location and region referenced in the posting to take into consideration differences in cost of living and may not be reflective of all regions. Salary Range for Job Posting $25.00/hr for Undergraduate Students/ $40.00/hr for Graduate Students
