Job Description

Summary of Position

The Quality Technician I is responsible for supporting the quality control and assurance processes within a company. This entry-level position is responsible for assisting with inspections, tests, data collection, and documentation to ensure that products or services meet the established quality standards and specifications. This position is for Pitman Night shift, a rotating 12-hour shift that runs 6PM-6AM.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Perform quality controls following the Work Instructions (WI’s) on raw materials, semi-finished, and finished products.

Monitor the variations in scrap products and raw materials (out of spec) that are rejected at the various steps of production flow. Make statistical evaluations and define corrective actions in collaboration with Management.

Suggest improvements of the WI’s in order to reduce scrap and improve the performance of the finished product.

Improve the capacity for in-depth analysis and improvement of the process.

Continually support and train the Production staff on WI’s, quality and process issues in cooperation with Management.

Perform final inspection of finished goods and perform defect analysis and pareto of defects.

Train backend personnel on quality defects and communicate defects

Create statistical analysis and reports on the quality of raw materials and finished product as required.

Utilize and maintain the supplied instruments of measurement according to WI and safety standards.

Monitor and audit operations, suggesting improvements to the tools of quality control used in the production line (vision systems, EL test, Sun Simulator, HiPOT, etc.) and in the QA room.

Manage, maintain, and calibrate the instruments of measurement in the production line and in the QA room.

Prepare reference modules for the calibration of solar simulator in collaboration with PTs and TLs.

Produce, in collaboration with the certified laboratories, "Master Modules" as required.

Suggest measures that will improve the traceability of the finished product.

Liaise with suppliers and customers when required.

In collaboration Management, produce and maintain all documentation required for the Quality manual in respecting the ISO standards.

Provide hourly reporting to Management team via email

Other duties and tasks as assigned to support the Quality Manager.

Qualifications

Skills

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision yet knows when to ask for help.

Proven proficiency with computers, Microsoft Office and Excel programs, and statistical software packages.

Excellent understanding of problem-solving techniques including 8D, 5Why’s, Fishbone, etc.

Works well within a team environment.

Ability to learn and apply new knowledge to resolve problems.

Knowledge of reading blueprints/ GD&T Drawings

Education and/or Experience

Manufacturing experience in a technical role, preferred

Previous PV module manufacturing experience, preferred

Physical Requirements

Must be able to lift and move materials up to 25 pounds independently and participate in team lifts of approximately 60 pounds as required for essential production tasks.
Must be able to remain in a stationary position or move throughout the production floor for extended periods (for the duration of the shift up to 8+ hours per shift).
Must be able to operate, position, adjust, or move equipment, tools, or materials necessary for production processes.
Capable of performing consistent, manual production tasks over long shifts.
Must be able to work in typical manufacturing environmental conditions, including areas requiring PPE, exposure to noise, and temperature variation.

Compensation and Benefits
