Paint Shop - Quality Technician
As a key member of the Paint Shop Quality Team, you will be responsible for inspecting, analyzing, and validating the quality of painted surfaces and processes. You’ll work closely with production, engineering, and supplier teams to identify defects, drive root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions. Your attention to detail and commitment to excellence will help ensure every Lucid vehicle leaves the paint shop with a flawless finish.

Key Responsibilities
· Perform detailed inspections of painted vehicle surfaces for defects such as dirt, runs, sags, orange peel, color mismatch, and gloss variation.
· Use specialized tools and equipment (e.g., light tunnels, elcometer, Wavescan, BYK-mac, PELT ) to assess paint quality.
· Document and escalate quality issues, working with cross-functional teams to resolve root causes.
· Support containment and corrective action processes for paint-related defects.
· Monitor and audit paint processes to ensure compliance with standardized work and quality specifications.
· Provide feedback and recommendations to improve paint application and inspection processes.
· Maintain accurate records of inspection results and quality metrics.
· Wear appropriate PPE including respirators, safety glasses, gloves, and coveralls.
· Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and support lean manufacturing principles.

Qualifications
· High School diploma or equivalent.
· Valid U.S. driver’s license.
· Strong attention to detail and ability to identify subtle surface defects.
· Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
· Proficient in English (written and verbal).
· Reliable, proactive, and quality-focused.
· Flexibility to work any shift, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
· Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and performing repetitive physical tasks.

Preferred Skills
· Experience in automotive paint inspection or quality control (OEM or Tier 1 supplier experience preferred).
· Familiarity with paint shop processes including pre-treatment / electrocoat, primer/basecoat/clearcoat systems, robotic application, and curing ovens.
· Knowledge of quality tools such as 5 Whys, Fishbone diagrams, and Pareto analysis.
· Experience using digital inspection tools and quality reporting systems.
