Base is America’s next-generation power company. We’re rebuilding the foundation of modern civilization–electricity–by deploying a vast network of distributed batteries that is transforming today’s fragile, centralized grid into a resilient and abundant system. We are engineers, operators, and creatives solving some of the most complex, interdisciplinary challenges of our time.
Base is looking to bring on a Quality Engineering Intern to support our in-house manufacturing processes and help ensure the quality, safety, and reliability of our components and assemblies. You’ll work closely with hardware design, manufacturing engineering, and quality teams to assist in developing quality standards, product and process requirements, and manufacturing quality control plans.
This is a hands-on role in a demanding, fast-paced environment, where you’ll join a highly motivated team working on extremely challenging projects.
What You'll Do
Support the creation and implementation of manufacturing quality control plans across our factory
Assist engineering stakeholders with design and process FMEAs, contributing to risk-reduction activities
Support development and documentation of Base’s Quality Management System (QMS) in alignment with ISO 9001 requirements
Help integrate QMS processes into production, engineering, and supply chain workflows
Develop and maintain documentation, including procedures, work instructions, and quality records
Analyze quality data to identify trends, issues, and improvement opportunities
Participate in root cause analyses and corrective/preventive action processes
Assist with setting up non-conformance workflows and rework processes
Help track and report key quality metrics
Support internal audits to ensure compliance with Base quality policies and ISO standards
What You'll Bring
Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Familiarity with basic quality engineering concepts (e.g., SPC, FMEA, root cause analysis)
Comfortable working with data and using tools such as Excel or Python for analysis
Excellent documentation and organizational skills
Strong communication skills and willingness to collaborate cross-functionally
Prior internship or project experience in manufacturing or hardware is a plus
Experience with ISO 9001 concepts or coursework is a plus
First Principles Thinking: Question assumptions. Principles > rules.
Operate at Base Pace: Focus on what matters, act quickly, and learn by doing.
Give & Get Feedback: Be direct, be humble, and maintain a growth mindset.
Everyone’s an Owner: Follow through on commitments and own results.
Strong Opinions, Loosely Held: Drive clarity and make calls with imperfect information.
Committed to the Mission: Rebuilding the grid is a big challenge. We work hard because we care deeply about the impact we’re creating. We work in-person. It’s not a 9-to-5. We are all-in.
Fun & Optimism Coexist with Grit: Collaboration and celebration coincide with the intensity of building real things.
