You’ll support the Public Affairs Manager in driving department operations, managing personnel and budgets, and fostering a collaborative, high-performing team culture.

GENERAL SUMMARY
In collaboration with the Public Affairs manager, communicate with, and provide advice and counsel to all levels of management. Support the PA manager with strategic planning and day to day direction and operations of the department, to include personnel management, budget management, programs and policies and procedures. Directly oversee two or more of the following PA programmatic/functional areas: employee communication; governing board management; member relations; public and community relations; legislative affairs; advertising and educational outreach; and creative services.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
Support the PA manager with strategic planning and help foster a dynamic team environment with engaged day to day direction and operations of the department, to include personnel management, budget management, programs and policies and procedures. Apply expertise to support the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of public affairs campaigns and programs across the full spectrum of communication disciplines. Provide advice and counsel to all levels of management.
Provide leadership, support, clear direction and expectations to direct reports. Meet with team members to identify and resolve work and personnel problems; assign work activities; monitor work progress; provide guidance for improvement; and facilitate skill development and cross-training. Prepare reports on team activity and performance for the PA manager. Establish development plans to promote continual professional growth and provide recognition for high levels of performance. Ensure responsive, quality customer service and a respectful, open and honest communication environment. Conduct performance appraisals and ensure adherence to EN core values. Input to fiscal year budget in coordination with the manager, and maintain diligent cost controls.
Perform internal and external scans for areas of responsibility to identify gaps to excellence, and develop and implement action plans to close the gaps. Build relationships with customers and leaders and provide expertise in support of agency excellence.
Interface and build relations with local, regional and national industry/policy/community influencers and stakeholders to advance the agency’s strategies, enhance public awareness and improve agency reputation.
Contribute ideas for internal and external communications and support development. Write print news articles and broadcast scripts and copy edit proficiently in journalistic Associated Press style.
Research and develop presentations (including articles, speeches, briefing papers, white papers, talking points and associated audio-visual aids) for PA manager and agency leaders.
Must participate on the Emergency Response team (ERO) when designated.
Must support the biennial refueling outage.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Requires a bachelor’s degree in communication, business administration or a related field from an accredited college or university with 6 years of public affairs experience. Requires 3 years of internal and/or external communications (may be concurrent with public affairs-related experience); OR high school diploma/GED with 10 years of public affairs-related experience. Requires 3 years of internal and/or external communications (may be concurrent with public affairs-related experience).
Pay Range
$141,070.00 - $211,604.00 AnnualMidpoint:
$176,337.00Typically, selected candidates are hired between the minimum and midpoint of the range, based on applicable experience and qualifications, market rate, internal equity, and budgetary allowances.
Offers will be negotiated based on each candidate's qualifications.
Incentive Compensation
This role may be eligible to participate in our annual incentive plan. Incentives are earned based on employee performance against defined metrics and company goals.
