Job Summary:

As a key member of our Finance team, the Project Accounting Manager will play a pivotal role in driving the financial success of our renewable energy projects. Reporting directly to the Controller, you’ll take ownership of all project-related accounting activities—ensuring accuracy, accountability, and insight at every stage. Beyond the numbers, you’ll be a trusted partner to project managers and leadership, translating financial data into actionable strategies that shape smarter decisions and fuel the growth of our clean energy mission.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the financial management of all renewable energy projects, ensuring project accounting from tracking projects, validating invoices coded to the projects, project close-out, and reconciling overall project payables to project budgets.
  • Generate project financial reports and visualization, evaluating the reports for accurate presentation of data and findings, including developing analysis on labor breakage, cost trending or other various project related financial reports to be escalated for review.
  • Implement and maintain cost control measures to ensure projects are delivered within budget. Identify and analyze cost variances and recommend corrective actions.
  • Review and manage financial aspects of project contracts. Ensure compliance with contract terms and conditions, and coordinate with legal and project management teams as needed.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team. Foster a collaborative and high-performing team culture focused on achieving financial goals.
  • Track project costs and revenue recognition in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
  • Support external audits related to project accounting. Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, regulations, and company policies.
  • Collaborate with project managers, senior management, and other stakeholders in finance and operations to provide financial insights and support decision-making processes.
  • Identify and implement improvements to project accounting systems and processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy, including Identify and mitigate financial risks associated with projects.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Required education and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or CMA certification is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in project accounting or finance, with at least 3 years in a managerial or leadership role. Experience in the renewable energy sector is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and project accounting practices. Proficiency in accounting software and financial management systems.
  • Proven leadership experience with the ability to inspire and manage a high-performing accounting team.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret financial data and provide actionable insights.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail in financial reporting and analysis.
  • In-depth understanding of accounting standards, regulations, and compliance requirements. Experience with audit processes is a plus.
  • Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing business environment and work effectively under pressure. Proactive and innovative mindset.
