Description/Job Summary
The U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) Hydrocarbon and Geothermal Energy Office (HGEO) is the hub of geothermal energy applied research, development, and demonstration activities. HGEO’s mission is to unleash the full potential of America’s hydrocarbon and geothermal resources to provide affordable, reliable, and secure energy. Lindahl Reed provides HGEO the expert technical and management resources through its $300M Scientific, Engineering, and Technical Support (SETS) support service contract to achieve its mission.
This position serves HGEO’s Office of Geothermal (OG). OG’s mission is to accelerate the discovery and development of gigawatt-scale geothermal energy and position geothermal as a competitive domestic source for reliable baseload electricity generation. OG works in partnership with industry, academia, DOE national laboratories, and others on research, development, and demonstration activities focused on technology R&D, pilots, and demonstrations, both within the enhanced geothermal systems (EGS) and hydrothermal resources space.
Position Responsibilities
Lindahl Reed has a need for a Program Support Specialist to advise and provide support to the OG Director on development and execution of best/leading operations, Notice of Funding Opportunities (NOFO) announcements, budget messaging, keynote addresses, Lab engagement and management, conferences, and workshops. The position coordinates weekly team meetings and facilitates these meetings by distributing agendas and taking notes, defining clear action plans, and tracking actions. Provides technical input edits for office communication products. Manages and coordinates the Directors’ schedule including briefings, external stakeholder meetings, office hours, and travel. Coordinates visitors to the DC office space and escorts them around the office for meetings with the Director and other senior leadership within the office. Supports the development, coordination, and management of competitive solicitations and merit reviews.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in relevant Engineering or Scientific discipline (Geology, Geophysics, Engineering, Renewable Energy, Energy Systems, etc.).
- 3+ years of experience with project management and engineering.
- Client/stakeholder relations.
- Professional attitude.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, OneNote, and Teams.
- Excellent communication skills – verbal and written, organization, and analytical skills.
- Demonstrated independent problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:
- Familiar with geothermal technologies.
- Expertise in geothermal reservoir systems, drilling/well construction, well completion design, reservoir characterization, and production/injection operations are strongly desired.
- Project management experience/PMP certification is a plus.
- Experience working within DOE.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Self-starter, an ability to work both independently and as part of a highly dynamic collaborative team.
- Ability to balance multiple long and short-term projects and competing priorities.
