The Shift Production Engineer will be based in Saudi Arabia. In this position, you will report to the Production Manager. A Shift Production engineer will be responsible for implementation of production processes and procedures, leading productivity improvements with LEAN activities, including new product introduction and manufacturing cell design to reduce waste, improve quality and safety, and reduce operating costs. Manage KPIs and ensure preventative actions are taken to maximize success. Work on many phases or sub-tasks of production, with results impacting on shift target achievement. Here is a glimpse of what you’ll do…

General Task Management

  • Monitor and control shift production activities. Achieve given shift production targets with right Quality.
  • Design new processes and provide facilities & methods to ensure the cost-effective integration of new products or for the improvement of existing ones into manufacturing operations.
  • Ensure Quality with continuous follow-ups with production team.
  • Assist with shop floor layout and cell designs. Develop fixtures and tooling for assembly tasks.
  • Generating production documentation such as assembly Work instructions. Reduce variability in manufacturing by providing standard work methods and work instructions.
  • Ensure product and process quality meets the specifications required.
  • Oversee installation of machinery and equipment.
  • Improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements and equipment layout Remove waste from the processes.
  • Organize plant start-up and shut-down schedules to ensure minimum loss of production time.
  • Plan and organize maintenance. Respond to breakdowns. Report down time and possible trends.
  • Support and lead continuous improvement, problem solving and process improvement activities.
  • Carry out FMEAs, (Failure Mode Effects Analysis) process documentation and implement improvements. Implement Poka-Yoke (error proofing) where possible to prevent errors.
  • Investigate production and process issues providing technical support and training.
  • Keep up with current and developing engineering trends. Undertake special projects as required.
  • Quality control of work by appropriate reviews.
  • Write reports and present progress at project meetings and to clients.
  • Manage the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Attend various meetings and action/communicate instructions.
  • Produce written reports and make presentations.
  • Undertake continuous training and development.
  • Perform root cause analysis and resolve problems

Supervise Production Activities:

  • Oversee and coordinate daily fabrication operations, ensuring adherence to production schedules and quality standards.
  • Ensure all fabrication activities are carried out efficiently and in accordance with safety protocols.
  • Lead a team of production workers, providing guidance and support as needed.

Team Leadership & Training:

  • Assign tasks to production workers, ensuring optimal utilization of resources and time.
  • Provide hands-on training to new employees and assist in their development.
  • Foster a positive working environment and ensure that safety practices are always followed.

Problem Solving & Troubleshooting:

  • Identify and address any production or equipment issues that may arise during the fabrication process.
  • Work with engineering and quality control teams to resolve technical challenges and ensure continuous improvement.

Quality Control:

  • Ensure all products meet the specifications and quality standards set by the company.
  • Conduct regular inspections of the fabrication process and finished goods to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Maintain detailed records of production activities, inspections, and quality checks.

Inventory & Material Management:

  • Ensure proper inventory management of raw materials and finished products.
  • Coordinate with the Production engineer to ensure material availability and minimize production delays.

Here is some of what you’ll need (required)…

  • Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Graduate.
  • Proven 7-10 years of experience as a Production Supervisor.
  • Flexible and willing to work in the shifts
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • In-depth knowledge of fabrication processes, machinery, and materials.
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Good knowledge of HSE and 5S standards

Here are a few of our preferred experiences…

  • Proven experience in a Production role, preferably within an automotive or steel fabrication manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to add value, reduce costs and make business improvement
  • Knowledge of various processes from Fabrication, Product Assembly, Plating etc.
  • Demonstrable experience of running shifts production, preferably in the Manufacturing, automotive industry.
  • A full understanding of the requirements of running production shifts, such as health and safety and security requirements to include certification of dangerous goods handling and aviation security.
  • Team player with strong organizational skills.
