Job Description: Principal Cloud Security Engineer
Bloom Energy, a solid oxide fuel cell company, is looking for a Principal Cloud Security Engineer to join its world-class team. This individual should be a dynamic professional who is looking for a rewarding future in one of today’s most exciting technologies. As Principal Cloud Security Engineer- you will be responsible for the Information Network Security of Global network and analyzing the logs of all related information security appliances at Bloom Energy. The ideal candidate is a deep security-focused technologist with proven track record of supporting globally distributed large scalable networks, analyzing, designing and implementing security best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and drive the cloud security strategy and roadmap aligned with business and IT objectives
- Design and implement secure cloud architectures across AWS, Azure, and hybrid environments
- Establish and enforce cloud security standards, policies, and governance frameworks
- Lead adoption of Zero Trust security principles across infrastructure and applications
- Design and implement controls for:
- Identity & Access Management (IAM)
- Network security (VPC, segmentation, micro-segmentation)
- Data protection (encryption, key management)
- Lead cloud security monitoring and incident response activities
- Drive vulnerability management and remediation efforts across cloud platforms
- Build and enhance SIEM, SOAR, and security automation workflows
- Develop automation and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) security controls
- Implement security automation pipelines (CI/CD integration)
- Evaluate emerging technologies (CNAPP, CSPM, CWPP, Zero Trust)
- Drive continuous improvement in security posture and maturity
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Deep experience in Cloud Security (AWS / Azure / GCP)
- Strong knowledge of:
- IAM, RBAC/ABAC, Privileged Access Management
- Network security (firewalls, VPNs, segmentation)
- Security tools (SIEM, SOAR, DLP, EDR/XDR)
- Hands-on experience with:
- Cloud-native security tools (Prisma Cloud, Defender, GuardDuty, etc.)
- Vulnerability management tools (Tenable, Qualys, etc.)
- Strong scripting/automation skills (Python, PowerShell, Terraform)
- Ability to investigate complex security issues and drive resolutions.
- Excellent communication and cross‑functional collaboration skills.
- Establishes system controls by developing framework for controls and levels of access based on NIST standards; recommending improvements.
- Ensure authorized access by investigating improper access; revoking access; reporting violations; monitoring information requests by new programming; recommending improvements.
- Proficient in using SCRUM, JIRA and Confluence tools
Skills and Experience:
- Experience in Hybrid / cloud architecture and security aspects
Experience in leading SOX, ISO, NERC audit and compliance requirements
- Knowledge and experience with Network segmentation and zoning
- Extensive experience managing firewalls and developing firewall policies
- 12+ years in Information Security / Cloud Security
- 5+ years in cloud security architecture and engineering roles
- Proven experience in enterprise-scale cloud security implementations
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Information Science, Computer Science, etc. Master’s degree is a plus.
- 14+ years of Information Security experience in a diverse range of technology environment
