Job Description:

About the Role

The People Operations Analyst/Specialist plays a key role in delivering consistent, high-quality HR experience across the organization. Sitting at the intersection of systems, service delivery, and process improvement, this role supports employees and HR partners across the full employee lifecycle — from onboarding through offboarding — while maintaining data integrity in our core HR platforms and driving continuous improvement in how we operate.

This is a hybrid generalist/specialist role well-suited for an HR professional who brings hands-on Workday and experience, a service-first mindset, and an analytical approach to identifying and solving operational problems.

Key Responsibilities

HR Service Delivery (Tier 1–2 Support)

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for employee and manager HR inquiries via the Workday Help ticketing platform, providing timely, accurate, and professional resolution of Tier 1 and escalated Tier 2 cases.

  • Maintain the HR case queue, ensuring SLAs are met and cases are properly documented, categorized, and resolved or escalated appropriately.

  • Support the employee lifecycle by processing transactions across onboarding, job changes, leaves of absence, and separations with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Partner with HR Business Partners, Payroll, Benefits, and Talent teams to resolve cross-functional employee issues and ensure a seamless experience.

  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of employee-facing knowledge base articles and FAQ content within Workday Help.

HRIS Systems & Data Integrity (Workday)

  • Execute HR data transactions in Workday across core HCM functions, including staffing, compensation changes, position management, and organizational changes.

  • Conduct regular data audits to identify and remediate discrepancies, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of employee records across systems.

  • Support testing efforts for Workday, including participating in UAT for system updates, open enrollment, and other cyclical HR processes.

  • Act as a first-level resource for transactional-related questions from HR partners and employees, troubleshooting access and usability issues.

Process Improvement & Documentation

  • Identify inefficiencies in existing HR processes and procedures and collaborate with the broader HR Operations team to design and implement improvements.

  • Document standard operating procedures (SOPs), process maps, and training guides for HR operational workflows, maintaining version control and ensuring materials stay current.

  • Analyze recurring case themes and data trends to surface insights and recommend proactive solutions that reduce ticket volume or improve resolution time.

  • Participate in and support HR project work including system implementations, policy rollouts, and operational readiness efforts.

  • Assist with post-implementation reviews to evaluate the effectiveness of process changes and identify further optimization opportunities.

Team Collaboration & Development

  • Build and maintain productive working relationships with HR partners, employees, and cross-functional stakeholders (IT, Finance, Legal) to resolve mutual problems and support shared goals.

  • Provide informal coaching and guidance to junior team members and new HR Operations staff on systems, processes, and service standards.

  • Contribute to team meetings, retrospectives, and knowledge-sharing sessions to continuously improve team capability and cohesion.

Qualifications

Required

  • 1-3 years of experience in HR Operations, HR Shared Services, or a related HR function.

  • Hands-on experience with Workday HCM, including processing transactions and running reports. Experience working with other HCMs, ie UKG, Dayforce, Success Factors, Paycom, Paylocity will be considered.

  • Experience working within an HR service delivery or case management platform (ServiceNow, Zendesk, Workday Help).

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy and confidentiality.

  • Ability to analyze straightforward problems, identify root causes, and apply standard procedures to resolve them.

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain HR concepts and processes clearly to diverse audiences.

  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred

  • Experience supporting multiple HR operational functions (e.g., Benefits, Talent Acquisition, Compensation) in a hybrid generalist/specialist capacity.

  • Familiarity with process documentation tools (e.g., Lucidchart, Confluence, Monday, or similar).

  • Exposure to HR data reporting and basic analytics.

  • Experience participating in HRIS configuration, testing, or implementation projects.

What Success Looks Like

In the first 6–12 months, a successful HR Operations Analyst will:

  • Achieve consistent, high-quality resolution of Tier 1–2 HR cases within defined SLAs.

  • Maintain a high standard of Workday data integrity through proactive auditing and accurate transaction processing.

  • Build trusted working relationships with HR partners and cross-functional stakeholders.

  • Begin informally mentoring newer team members on systems and workflows.
