What The Role Is

The Operations & Maintenance Planner supports maintenance planning, scheduling, and processes to optimize asset reliability and operational performance across the fleet.

This position may be filled at the Planner I or Planner II level based on experience, technical expertise, and demonstrated capability.

  • Planner I is an entry-level role focused on supporting planning and scheduling activities while building technical and systems knowledge.
  • Planner II is a fully qualified planner who works independently, leads complex planning efforts, and drives continuous improvement initiatives.

Pay Ranges by Job Level:

  • Planner I ($75,000 - $90,000)
  • Planner II ($90,000 - $105,000)

What You'll Be Doing

Planner I

Work Management & Scheduling

  • Assist in creating detailed work plans for maintenance activities, including labor, equipment, and material requirements, utilizing data analysis to drive efficient scheduling.
  • Support the scheduling of planned jobs in alignment with operational needs, and escalate any resource or timing conflicts to senior planners.
  • Onboard new plants into SAP S/4 HANA by setting up master data and PMs, ensuring accurate and effective data configuration to support plant operations.
  • Collaborate with team members to analyze historical work data and contribute to the development of improved practices that can be applied across all sites.

Data & Continuous Improvement

  • Contribute to the collection and analysis of data on estimated vs. actual work duration, equipment use, and manpower allocation.
  • Participate in regular review cycles to identify trends and opportunities to optimize and improve efficiency in the planning and scheduling process.
  • Recommend improvements to work management practices, methods, and procedures to enhance efficiency and quality of maintenance activities.

Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) Support

  • Maintain SAP data quality and ensure compliance by verifying that maintenance history, equipment details, and user data are accurately recorded.
  • Aid in the development and automation of Annual Maintenance Plans in SAP S/4 HANA, coordinating with the O&M Engineering team for smooth execution.
  • Assist in monitoring material locations and inventory within SAP, ensuring that parts and supplies are appropriately tracked and available for scheduled maintenance.

Change Management & Best Practices

  • Work with the O&M Technical Services Team to assist in implementing Engineering Changes and other improvement projects.
  • Support the development of Bills of Materials (BOMs) in SAP, helping to maintain an accurate and logical plant hierarchy.
  • Participate in training initiatives for field personnel, O&M teams, and other departments on new processes, SAP updates, and best practices.

Reporting & Communication

  • Generate and contribute to weekly and monthly status reports, KPIs, and variance analysis to support plant performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Facilitate open communication across departments to support a culture of transparency and collaboration in work management.

Planner II (Additions)

  • Independently develop and refine detailed work plans for maintenance activities, assessing labor, equipment, and material requirements to optimize resource allocation.
  • Lead the scheduling of planned and emergent maintenance activities, working closely with field operations to align schedules with plant requirements and ensure minimal operational disruption.
  • Oversee the onboarding process for new plants into SAP S/4 HANA, validating and configuring data, PMs, and workflows to support efficient plant operations.
  • Lead analysis of maintenance performance data and implement data-driven improvements.
  • Contribute to the development of key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to monitor the effectiveness of maintenance strategies and the reliability of assets.
  • Ensure high standards of SAP data integrity and compliance.
  • Lead the configuration and automation of Annual Maintenance Plans in SAP, working with the O&M Engineering team to ensure alignment with operational and maintenance goals.
  • Design and implement custom SAP Variants to enhance site-specific and fleetwide planning and scheduling capabilities.
  • Lead the development of detailed Bills of Materials (BOMs) in SAP, ensuring a logical plant hierarchy is established and maintained.
  • Recommend and standardize fleet-wide work management best practices.
  • Facilitate training sessions on SAP S/4 HANA processes, work management strategies, and data analysis techniques to drive continuous improvement and compliance.
  • Act as a liaison between multiple departments (O&M Technical Services, Operations, Supply Chain, and Procurement) to ensure seamless communication and alignment on planning and scheduling needs.
  • Engage in regular updates with stakeholders, providing clear and concise progress reports, risk assessments, and recommendations for scheduling optimization.

What You'll Bring

Planner I

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Basic understanding of preventative and corrective maintenance practices.
  • Willingness to learn SAP S/4 HANA and interpret mechanical/electrical drawings.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple activities under guidance.
  • Travel 5–10%.

Planner II (Additions)

  • 3+ years of relevant experience
  • Ability to independently develop comprehensive outage schedules and maintenance plans.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office.
  • Strong working knowledge of SAP S/4 HANA or similar EAM systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings independently.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating complex maintenance activities.

What Would Be Nice

Planner I

  • Associate degree or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in operations or maintenance environments.
  • Familiarity with EAM/CMMS systems.
  • Exposure to renewable energy (Wind, Solar).
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI).

Planner II (Additions)

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of operations or maintenance experience.
  • Technical expertise in renewable energy systems (Wind, Solar, Battery Storage).
  • Experience with advanced scheduling tools and digital platforms.
  • Demonstrated leadership or mentoring experience.

The pay rate for the successful candidate will depend on geographic location, skills, relevant and demonstrated experience, education, training and certifications, and other factors permitted by law. This role is eligible to earn an annual cash bonus, subject to personal and company performance goals.

Salary Range Across all U.S. Locations
$75,000$105,000 USD
