Job Description

X-energy is seeking experienced professionals to join our Plant Training team in the role of Specialist, Plant Training. This role will focus on the Plant Field Technician (PFT) training program, which integrates field operations, mechanical maintenance, electrical maintenance, and instrumentation & control into a unified, multi-skilled curriculum. This role is responsible for the Systematic Approach to Training process and the ADDIE training model to turn complex technical data into student-centered training for nuclear power plant workers, and comply with the rules set by regulators, company, and our suppliers and clients. This position will enjoy building program elements from scratch and improving their skills.


Job Profile Tasks/Responsibilities

This role is heavily front-loaded on the Analyze, Design, and Develop phases of the ADDIE model.

Training Analysis & Design:

  • Conduct systematic training needs analyses with plant technical experts.
  • Develop integrated training objectives that cross traditional trade boundaries.
  • Design innovative curriculum that teaches multi-disciplinary concepts as unified systems.
  • Create training materials, including technical content, hands-on exercises, and assessments.
  • Build the foundation for instructor-led, self-paced, and blended learning approaches.

Program Development:

  • Transform complex technical information (P&IDs, electrical one-lines, I&C diagrams, vendor datasheets) into effective learning materials.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts across disciplines (mechanical, electrical, I&C, operations).
  • Research and apply adult learning best practices to technical training design.
  • Document training development processes to meet regulatory and client requirements.

Future Responsibilities (as program matures):

  • Deliver classroom, hands-on, and simulator-based training.
  • Evaluate student performance and provide coaching.
  • Continuously improve program based on student outcomes and feedback.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate training records per regulatory, company, and client requirements.
  • Complete all assigned certifications, qualifications, and training.
  • Maintain professional communication and conduct at all times.
  • Support training program audits and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Other duties as assigned by manager.

Job Profile Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Level III: Typically, five years of general experience.

  • Level IV: Typically, ten years of general experience.

  • Level V: Typically, fifteen years of general experience.

  • Previous experience with electrical or I&C maintenance is preferred.
  • Previous experience as a trainer at a commercial power plant is preferred.

Location: 5303 Spectrum Drive, Suite K, Frederick, MD
Work Site Expectations: 5 days a week in office

Travel Expectations: up to 10% as project requires

Hours: standard office schedule are 8:00am-5:00pm ET, Mon-Fri

Compensation

A reasonable estimate for this position at the level of experience required is:

Level III: $76,725- $127,875/ Level IV: $109,425- $182,375/ Level V: $118,575- $197,625
