Job Description

Summary of Position

The Manufacturing Intern will support the organization and standardization of critical manufacturing documentation by creating a comprehensive binder (physical and/or digital) that consolidates procedures, standards, and records related to safety, quality, and productivity. This role will work closely with operations, engineering, and quality teams to ensure accurate, accessible, and up-to-date information.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Collect, review, and organize documentation related to safety procedures, quality standards, and productivity metrics
Develop a structured binder and/or digital repository with clear sections, indexing, and version control
Identify missing, outdated, or inconsistent documents and coordinate updates with appropriate teams
Standardize document formats, naming conventions, and revision tracking processes
Assist in creating or updating standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and visual aids
Support the development of process flow diagrams and documentation tools
Ensure documentation aligns with internal standards and applicable regulations (e.g., OSHA, ISO)
Participate in shop floor walkthroughs to validate documentation accuracy against actual operations
Support continuous improvement efforts by documenting best practices and process enhancements
Present final documentation structure and recommendations for ongoing maintenance

Strong organizational and attention-to-detail skills
Basic understanding of manufacturing processes
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Ability to communicate effectively across cross-functional teams
Ability to work independently and collaboratively

Education and/or Experience

Currently pursuing a degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or a related field
Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles (preferred)
Exposure to quality systems such as ISO 9001 or Six Sigma (preferred)
Experience with document control or technical writing (preferred

Physical Requirements

Must be able to lift and move materials up to 25 pounds independently and participate in team lifts of approximately 60 pounds as required for essential production tasks.
Must be able to remain in a stationary position or move throughout the production floor for extended periods (for the duration of the shift up to 8+ hours per shift).
Must be able to operate, position, adjust, or move equipment, tools, or materials necessary for production processes.
Capable of performing consistent, manual production tasks over long shifts.
Must be able to work in typical manufacturing environmental conditions, including areas requiring PPE, exposure to noise, and temperature variation.
