Lucid Motors is seeking a hands-on and strategic Manager to lead Supplier Quality Engineering across our Powertrain and Electrical/Electronics commodities. This role is responsible for overseeing supplier quality throughout the full lifecycle—from early design through mass production—ensuring robust manufacturing processes, effective quality controls, and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate brings deep commodity expertise, strong leadership capabilities, and a collaborative mindset to drive supplier performance and team development.
You Will:
- Lead a team of Supplier Quality Engineers supporting Powertrain and Electrical/Electronics components, including battery systems, PCBAs, castings, harnesses, ECUs, and molded plastics.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to direct reports, fostering growth and accountability across the team.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Design Engineering, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain to ensure supplier readiness and alignment with product requirements.
- Drive supplier selection and qualification strategies, ensuring alignment with Lucid’s technical and timeline expectations.
- Oversee APQP deliverables, PPAP submissions, and quality planning activities across commodities.
- Support early design reviews and DFM discussions, incorporating lessons learned and driving manufacturability improvements.
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective action efforts for supplier quality issues, ensuring containment and long-term resolution.
- Conduct supplier audits and process assessments, identifying risks and driving improvement initiatives.
- Monitor supplier performance metrics and lead continuous improvement efforts across the supply base.
- Manage change control activities related to supplier components, ensuring traceability and alignment with engineering updates.
- Travel up to 30% globally to support supplier development and issue resolution.
You Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (required).
- 5+ years of professional experience in Supplier Quality Engineering, with extensive exposure to Powertrain and Electrical/Electronics commodities.
- At least 2 years of formal experience managing direct reports in a technical or quality function.
- Strong working knowledge of GD&T, tolerance analysis, and inspection methods for molded and assembled components.
- Familiarity with statistical tools such as SPC, MSA, DOE, and capability analysis.
- Experience with APQP, PPAP, and quality systems (e.g., IATF 16949, IPC-A-610, ISO 16750).
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and specifications.
- Exposure to SMT manufacturing, PCB/PCBA testing methods (ICT, Flying Probe, FCT), and low/high voltage components.
- Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; experience with Smartsheets, Minitab, JIRA, or Tableau is a plus.
- Language skills in Chinese or Vietnamese are a plus.
