A Brief Summary of This Position:

The Maintenance Inventory clerk is an entry level, hourly position responsible for managing inventory, sourcing and ordering parts, supporting repair operations, and maintaining accurate documentation. This role ensures that maintenance employees have the materials, tools, and information needed to complete repair projects efficiently. The position also involves hands-on repair work with power tools and small engines, as well as operating a company vehicle for parts pickup. Monday through Friday 7 am – 3:30 pm

Essential Functions:

  • Maintain accurate, up‑to‑date inventory records, continuously monitoring and reordering as needed.
  • Shop for parts, selecting the best combination of quality, price, and availability obtaining quotes from vendors and comparing options.
  • Place orders for parts and supplies through approved vendors.
  • Track incoming orders and follow up on outstanding or delayed shipments.
  • Operate the company truck to pick up parts when required.
  • Set up materials, tools, and parts for upcoming repair projects.
  • Learn and maintain proficiency in the Maintain X Program.
  • Maintain documentation for warranties, manuals, SDS (Safety Data Sheets), and vendor information.
  • Keep digital and physical records organized and accessible for audits or reference.
  • Perform basic repairs on power tools and small engines. Troubleshoot issues and determine whether repair or replacement is appropriate.
  • Required to wear PPE if on plant floor (hard hat, safety glasses, high Viz vest, ear plugs, maintenance long sleeve uniform shirts – all provided by employer except steel toed boots w/built in metatarsal guards – provided by employee)

Other Important Details about the Role:

  • Ability to perform minor repairs on power tools and small engines.
  • Strong organizational and record‑keeping skills.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to think and plan ahead.
  • Ability to communicate properly with vendors via phone and email.
  • Ability to lift and move parts, tools, and equipment as required.
  • Comfortable using software systems: Word, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint, Maintain X

Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Communication skills
  • Computer Skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint)
  • Ability to lift and move materials (not to exceed 50 lbs)
  • Basic math skills for counting, measuring, and tracking stock
  • Organizational skills to maintain storerooms and records
  • Ability to follow safety procedures

  • Experience in inventory control or warehousing

  • Filing and data entry
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a heavy‑industrial environment (heat, noise, PPE requirements).

Working Environment and Physical Efforts:

Work is typically performed in a plant and office setting with moderate noise. The incumbent is regularly required to sit and stand for extended periods of time, as well as talk and listen on the phone and in personal conversations or meetings. The environment is fast paced and demanding most of the time. The employee is frequently required to use hands and fingers to handle or feel and reach with hands and arms while working in the office. Will work with various files and forms and on the computer. The employee is required to move about the office and maintenance shop. Incumbent must utilize proper ergonomic safeguards. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move large files, binders, orders maintenance equipment and tools (not to exceed 50 lbs). Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception. Must be able to wear appropriate PPE when out on plant floor including hardhat, safety glasses, earplugs, high viz vest and steel toed boots with built in metatarsal guards.
