What The Role Is

The M365 Cloud Engineer is a key member of the IT Infrastructure team at Clearway Energy Group (CEG).  The M365 Cloud Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, administration, and optimization of Microsoft 365 collaboration services and Power Platform, with a strong focus on SharePoint Online. This role partners closely with IT, Security, and business stakeholders to deliver secure, scalable, and user-friendly collaboration solutions across the enterprise. The ideal candidate has deep technical expertise in M365 workloads, strong SharePoint architecture experience, and a passion for improving productivity through automation and governance. The IT Infrastructure team ensures that this critical infrastructure is secure, highly available, right-sized, and compliant with all regulatory guidelines by which CEG is governed. The M365 Cloud Engineer is responsible for all aspects of M365 applications and services deployed within CEG, including Office 365, Power Platforms, and SharePoint, as well as monitoring and support of the overall service.

What You'll Be Doing

Systems/Applications Integration:

  • Microsoft 365 design and configuration to align closely with the Operations, Security, and Applications teams
  • Provide engineering support for a complex Microsoft Entra, including identity access management and AD topologies in a hybrid environment
  • Design, implement, and manage SharePoint Online sites, hubs, permissions, content types, and information architecture
  • Coordinate with the CEG compliance team to align M365 cloud IT processes with all regulatory requirements
  • Provide support for the maintenance of the companywide Disaster Recovery Plan
  • Analyze and ensure proper monitoring solutions are in place that will notify and alert the teams of potential issues that could impact the availability and functionality of critical systems and applications
  • Provide a strategic vision and roadmap to analyze and evaluate new technologies and solutions to enhance the IT environment to serve strategic and tactical business objectives
  • Coordinate and participate in planned maintenance activities to ensure IT systems are properly implemented and maintained according to best practices with minimal impact on the business
  • Coordinate with the team to develop and maintain proper processes, procedures, security, and system documentation according to industry best practices and regulatory requirements

M365 Cloud Infrastructure & Software Systems Oversight:

  • Governance, design, implementation, and support all M365 services (Exchange, OneDrive, Teams, Power BI, Power Automate, SharePoint, Intune, etc.)
  • Implement and coordinate the monitoring of M365 usage, tuning, security, and forecasting
  • Develop and maintain automation using PowerShell, Power Automate, and Power Apps
  • Improve operational efficiency through scripting, templating, and self-service solutions
  • Maintain uptime by proactive management and monitoring to ensure environmental health and minimize disruptions to mail flow
  • Support the provision of Power Platform environments, working closely with the application support team
  • Providing a support service for users receiving incidents and work requests from Service Desk in addition to providing direct escalation support for end-users
  • Ensure awareness of and support adoption of the M365 roadmap, new tools and capabilities, and potential use within CEG

What You'll Bring

This role requires expert-level knowledge of the following:

  • Microsoft Windows Server operating systems
  • Microsoft 365 services (Exchange, Intune, SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive, etc.)
  • CLI and scripting skills (PowerShell, Python, etc.)
  • SharePoint Framework (SPFx) familiarity
  • Power Platform experience (Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI)
  • M365 Security and Compliance portal
  • Hybrid Microsoft Entra/on-prem Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS
  • Azure SSO Federation/Integration, SCIM automated user provisioning
  • M365 Cloud license management
  • SSL certificate management
  • Office Applications: Outlook, OneDrive, OneNote, Excel, Word and PowerPoint and integration points with SharePoint Online

This role requires a strong working knowledge of the following:

  • Email authentication/verification methods (SPF, DMARC, DKIM)
  • Encryption technologies (i.e. SSL, TLS, HTTPS, SSH, etc.)
  • Capacity and resource planning capabilities and knowledge of associated relevant tools
  • Regulatory compliance experience
  • Exceptional work ethic and time management skills
  • Ability to work well independently and/or as part of a team
  • Strong communication skills and a commitment to customer service
  • Ability to travel 10% of the time, and on short notice

What Would Be Nice

Preferred Qualifications

  • An Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems or a similar field is preferred. Professional certification and significant experience in key Information Technology competencies will be considered in place of a formal degree
  • 5+ years of experience architecting, designing, implementing, administering, and supporting M365 Cloud environment, as well as Microsoft directory services and messaging platforms in an enterprise environment
  • Experience working in a NERC-regulated environment

The pay rate for the successful candidate will depend on geographic location, skills, relevant and demonstrated experience, education, training and certifications, and other factors permitted by law. This role is eligible to earn an annual cash bonus, subject to personal and company performance goals.

Salary Range Across all U.S. Locations
$129,000$140,000 USD
