Position Title: Lead Roving Technician
Department: Service
Compensation: $90,000 - $115,000 + annual bonus
Reports To: Regional Service Manager
Location: Elora/Hedley/Oxford Ontario


About the Role:

Wondering what your day-to-day could look like as our new Lead Roving Technician? In this role, you’ll play an integral part of the service team, primarily responsible for commissioning and performing preventative and corrective maintenance on SolBank Storage Power Block (SPB). This role also involves fulfilling obligations under Long Term Service Agreements (LTSA’s) for Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects. The successful candidate must be willing to travel and perform tasks at various project sites throughout Ontario. Experience with BESS or renewable power generation equipment in a service environment is required.


Responsibilities:

  • Supporting sites within your designated area for long-term service agreements.
  • Fill in as a field site supervisor or site lead.
  • Coordinating with Project Manager, Commissioning Manager and LTSA manager to represent SolBank responsibilities through the commissioning process and LTSA.
  • Working with the customer during service and commissioning efforts planning, LOTO procedures depending on customer or CSE responsibilities.
  • Work with coordinators to get STO and RMAs completed in a timely manner.
  • Work with quality and process NCRs and provide as needed issue tracking.
  • Work with 3rd party to fix replace or schedule site support by submitting tickets.
  • Work with performance engineering to come up with resolutions as issues come about and submit Jira entrées as needed.
  • Allocating contracted workers to the schedule requirements and managing their funding and onboarding.
  • Training new Service Technicians to be able to commission SolBank and support LTSA.
  • Training technicians and contractors on CMMS and proper usage.
  • Representing Services as site lead for new projects and drives scheduling, safety and environmental compliance.
  • Working with Field Service Supervisors and technicians to ensure an effective transition to Operations.
  • Acting as field technical advisor for Service Technicians, Field Supervisors and Service Department.
  • Responding to situations that arise during SolBank transit includes repairs and damage assessment.
  • Assisting in procedure development and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Performing training exercises in the field for Service Technicians supporting commissioning and maintenance activities.
  • Providing onsite diagnostic, troubleshooting and hands-on support to maintain equipment and achieve availability and capacity guarantees.
  • Developing operating procedures and processes.
  • Adhering to all health and safety rules and policies.


Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • Educational background in Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline
  • At least 5 years' of relevant work experience in a service environment, preferably in renewable energy
  • Knowledge of general and national codes, medium voltage power systems and photovoltaic or Energy Storage system applications
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven ability to prioritize, manage multiple projects, and execute in a fast-paced and dynamic environment with a strong ownership mentality
  • Previous experience with a CMMS software program is preferred
  • Ability to travel to regional locations as needed (up to 100% of the time)
