Lab Assistant, Part-time

The Lab Assistant is a junior part-time Lab Operations position that provides support to the TerraPower Laboratory Facility Manager and performs day-to-day functions of the Laboratory Operations department. The TerraPower Laboratory supports a variety of projects with evolving needs. It is a dynamic environment with a highly engaged workforce.

Responsibilities:

    Provide daily operational/laboratory support to ensure facility is functional and adequate to support TerraPower operations.

    Maintain housekeeping and supplies i.e. restock PPE stations, empty garbage cans, floor cleaning, fire extinguisher and safety shower checks, etc.

    Facilitate movement of equipment and furniture between the lab and warehouse spaces.

    Assisting with warehouse & lab organization.

    Assisting with various facilities maintenance activities.

    Escorting vendors.

    Follow standard operating procedures.

    Perform other tasks and duties as assigned.

Key Qualifications and Skills

    High School Diploma or equivalent (Some college or relevant certifications are a plus).

    Previous experience in a facilities or maintenance role is a plus but not required.

    Basic knowledge of cleaning supplies and maintenance tools.

    Ability to commit to at least 25 hours per week in a part-time employee status.

    Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.

    Ability to follow safety protocols and ensure a safe working environment.

    Experience with material handling equipment such as pallet-jacks or forklifts is a plus.

    Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to interface effectively with employees, management is a plus.

    Ability to work a modified schedule and overtime as workload and project schedules dictate.

    The successful candidate will possess a high degree of trust and integrity, communicate openly, and display respect and a desire to foster teamwork.

    Military experience is a plus.

    Must be flexible and able to quickly adjust to new or changing projects/tasks and schedules.

    Ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Demonstrating self-motivation and initiative is preferred.

    Repetitive work: Prolonged.

    Special Senses: Visual and audio focused work and ability to perform role in personal protective equipment.

    Work Conditions: Laboratory, warehouse, stairs, typing/keyboard, standard and/or sitting working environment of >8 hrs./day.

Job details

Hourly Pay Range Level 6:  $30 - $43

*Typically, our employee salaries are within .90 – 1.0 of the mid-point of the posted salary band.  Any salary offered within the posted salary band is based on market data and commensurate with the selected individual’s qualifications and experience.  This range is specific to Washington State.
