ABOUT THE INTERNSHIP

As an intern, you will work on high-level projects affecting the Transmission, Substation and Collection systems – ranging from 34.5kV to 345kV. A key focus of the role is assisting in troubleshooting high voltage electrical faults and helping develop programs and maintenance practices to prevent unnecessary site downtime. As an intern on this team, you will help support the operations of Invenergy’s existing wind, solar, and storage assets. Additional responsibilities (with the support and oversight of senior engineers) include:

  • Assist engineers with electrical troubleshooting, including review of digital fault records, relays, and other operational data for planned and unplanned electrical events.

  • Collaborating with site personnel, contractors, equipment manufacturers & consulting engineers for electrical issues at wind, solar, and battery storage facilities

  • Assist operating facilities with electrical procedure development.

  • Assist in reviewing and organizing as-built site documentation including electrical drawings, schematics, bill of materials, electrical studies, test reports, and relay settings.

  • Assist the engineers with troubleshooting electrical issues affecting generation technology, including wind turbines, solar panels, and battery systems.

  • Contribute to projects aimed at enhancing safety and improving operational efficiency.

  • Collaborate with Senior Engineers in performing root cause analyses to identify potential future risks and drive fleet-wide corrective action plans.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Currently enrolled in a 4-year Bachelor’s degree program with an expected graduation date between Fall 2026 and Summer 2027.

  • Majoring in Electrical Engineering or Power Systems Engineering

  • Eligible to work in the United States without the need for employer visa sponsorship now or in the future

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.

  • Demonstrated interest in the renewable energy or clean energy sector.

Base Pay

$22.00 - $25.00 Hourly

The base pay range reflects the minimum and maximum target salary for the position. Your recruiter can share more about the base pay for this internship opportunity during the hiring process.

Interns may be eligible to contribute to a 401k.
