Job Description:

Role Overview

Fluence is looking for an experienced HSE Manager / Fachkraft für Arbeitssicherheit (SiFa) to support our operations across Germany. This role is part of the European QSHE team and is responsible for ensuring the safe delivery, commissioning, and operation of Fluence Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects.

Acting as the competent safety advisor in accordance with the German Arbeitssicherheitsgesetz (ASiG) and DGUV Vorschrift 2, the role provides professional health and safety support to Fluence management and project teams. The role ensures compliance with German occupational safety legislation, Fluence standards, and ISO 45001 requirements, while supporting environmental compliance in coordination with the European Environmental Manager.

The HSE Manager will collaborate closely with Delivery, Service, Engineering, and Project Management teams, as well as contractors and clients, to ensure the safe execution of project activities and to foster a strong and proactive safety culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a specialist for occupational safety (SiFa) in accordance with the ASiG and the DGUV regulation 2.

  • Offer professional HSE advice and support to Fluence management and project teams.

  • Support compliance with German occupational health and safety legislation, including ArbSchG, BaustellV, BetrSichV, GefStoffV, and DGUV regulations.

  • Perform site inspections, audits, and safety assessments at project locations

  • Support hazard identification and risk assessment procedures (Gefährdungsbeurteilungen).

  • Review contractor risk assessments and method statements (RAMS).

  • Assist in investigating incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions

  • Support the implementation and maintenance of ISO 45001 health and safety management system requirements.

  • Foster and uphold a robust safety culture throughout Fluence operations.

  • Assist with environmental compliance at the project level in collaboration with the European Environmental Manager.

  • Facilitate engagement with contractors, clients, and authorities where necessary

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Completed degree in environmental sciences, occupational safety or a comparable technical field

  • Qualification as Fachkraft Arbeitssicherheit (SiFa) according to ASiG und DGUV regulation 2

  • Minimum of 5 years HSE experience in construction, infrastructure, energy, or industrial settings.

  • Completed degree in environmental sciences, occupational safety, or a comparable technical field or equivalent training and work experience

  • Thorough understanding of German occupational safety laws and DGUV standards

  • Experience in supporting construction or engineering projects.

  • Experience working within established HSE management systems (ISO 45001 or equivalent)

  • Proficient in German and English

Desirable

  • Experience in renewable energy, battery storage, or electrical infrastructure projects

  • Experience in supporting environmental compliance and ISO 14001 systems

  • Experience working within EPC or infrastructure project environments

Additional Skills

  • Ability to work independently and across multiple project sites

  • Ability to influence and support operational teams
