Job Description
X-energy is seeking professionals to join our Nuclear Safety team in the role of Health Physicist. This position assists in the development and implementation of health physics and radiation protection programs, processes and/or systems, as necessary, for the plant operations to protect the radiological health and safety of workers and members of the public, and to control radiological effluent releases. This includes creating, documenting, and managing the technical and regulatory requirements of radiological design and safety programs. This role also assists in the technical development and implementation of engineering and program specific administrative procedures while ensuring they conform to all technical, regulatory, and internal program requirements.
Job Profile Tasks/Responsibilities:
Level III:
Execute the core tasks and responsibilities, listed in the Job Profile Task/Responsibilities section of this document, with minimal supervision.
Provide ownership, responsibility, and accountability over technical scope involving the coordination of multiple individual contributors working in a specific area.
Level IV:
Lead the execution of the core tasks and responsibilities, listed in the Job Profile Task/Responsibilities section of this document, without close supervision and some latitude for independent judgment.
Provide feedback and guidance to more junior team members with the execution of the core tasks and responsibilities listed in the Job Profile Task/Responsibilities section of this document.
Shares knowledge related to industry best practices and standards with others across the team.
Job Profile Minimum Qualifications:
A master’s degree in science/engineering or related field (may include a combination of experience obtained through an academic institution, e.g., design projects, research, or design teams, as well as professional experience) may be in lieu of two years of experience.
A Ph.D. in science/engineering or related field (may include a combination of experience obtained through an academic institution, e.g., design projects, research, or design teams, as well as professional experience) may be in lieu of three years of experience.
Previous experience at X-energy meeting performance standards may be in lieu of years of experience.
Experience developing written procedures to implement regulatory and code/standard requirements, and experience applying regulatory guidance.
Working knowledge of relevant industry codes, standards, and best practices for health physics, radiation surveying and monitoring, radiation safety training, ALARA best practices, and NRC requirements for nuclear facilities.
Understanding of NRC-regulated nuclear facility operation, ventilation systems, and respiratory protection to reduce worker exposure to radioactive airborne contamination, and oversight of safe handling of radiological materials.
Experience using MCNP, Microshield, or other computer codes and models/methods for dose assessments.

Work Site Expectations: 5 days in office
Hours: 8:00am-5:00pm, Mon-Fri
Compensation
