ACCIONA, through its Living & Culture business line, is looking to hire a Health and Safety Technician in the USA to take part in a cultural project.

Job Description

Mission:

Collaborate and provide support in the projects carried out by their unit/department, in accordance with the guidelines given by their supervisor, in order to carry out the delegated tasks and meet the needs of the internal client.

This sub-function is responsible for all activities related to the health and safety of the company’s employees. Its activities include: identifying and assessing risks of accidents and occupational illnesses, controlling risks in the work environment or conditions, delivering occupational risk prevention training and promoting awareness of its importance, recording and analyzing information, and providing technical advice and support to company employees.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement and maintain the project’s Health & Safety Plan as prepared by Phelps Construction Group.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with local and company safety regulations.
  • Monitor and enforce the correct use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and adherence to safe work practices.
  • Lead safety inductions, toolbox talks, and ongoing training sessions for all site personnel.
  • Investigate and report all accidents, incidents, and near misses; prepare detailed documentation and recommend corrective actions.
  • Coordinate emergency response procedures and organize regular drills.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date HSE documentation and records.
  • Liaise with government authorities, contractors, and clients on all HSE-related matters.
  • Promote a strong safety culture across the site and drive continuous improvement in safety performance.
  • Ensure full compliance with local laws, regulations, and internal HSE standards.

Required Skills and Competencies

  • OSHA 30-hour certification is required.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a Health & Safety role within the construction industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of local HSE regulations and best practices.
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills.
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and HSE reporting tools.
